GDT 5/3 - Weird Lineup Today

Still got it.

Extent me.

There are quite a few outcomes that are worse than the Braves bringing Nick back for another year.

There are plenty of superior outcomes (count me in on the sign AJ Pollock team)

But I can certainly live with a one year deal with Nick if he keeps it up. He’s made some non insignificant adjustments this season.

I’m liking Pollock for a corner: power’s not likely what it’s shown at Chase, but his speed’s still an asset despite the injuries, his offensive profile overall is good, and his defense in a corner would be great (plus he can back up Inciarte there, allowing more flexibility with the reserve unit).

For example, I would rather sign Nick than give Moose multiple years.

Agreed. But for me you’re just ranking suboptimal scenarios.

2 weeks ago you were trying to give him away to make room for Preston Tucker

Do you live this much in the moment in your finance career?

I am a much different professional than sports fan. Sports it my getaway.

My thoughts exactly.

Although, I would guess that Pollock’s bust possibility is higher than other potential options given the contract he is going to get, his age, and his health history. But I think at our point we need to take a risk or two while we have so many pre arb stars.

He's a bit injury prone and already 30.

He's putting on a power show so far this year, which may take him from the realm of surprisingly affordable to a premium.

His defense would have played up in left before, but I would wonder if it just didn't play like a LFer not too far into his deal. I'm struggling with the fun answer in the OF if it isn't Harper. Going to pay somebody creaky more money for longer than you probably should.

So in that respect, I'm not sure I mind making a splash for a middle order guy at 3B or catcher and bringing Markakis back on a 1 and 1.
