Has MLB encouraged players to try wearing a flap for over their jaws on their batting helmets? More players wearing them than I ever recall.

I don't think so, but eventually it will be mandatory like the ear flap. It's just not worth the risk of taking 95 to the face.

I forgot which game I was watching but they mentioned more players are doing it voluntarily this year to prevent injury. Certainly the most we've ever seen.

I doesnt seem like that long ago there were still guys wearing no earflap helmets, who were grand-fathered in. I suppose that was still 20 years ago lol.
