I don't think anyone thought Aaron Judge would be this good.

No- we are saying nobody thought he'd be an 8-10 WAR guy in conversation for the MVP most years, which is what looks like will happen.

Fangraphs had his raw power FV at 70 and game power at 55. I think he should be an 80 on both with a 65 hit tool.

Also the guy is ridiculously smart.

I'm not sure about the purpose of this thread, so I'm asking for clarification.

To reveal to us that Judge is good and nobody projects any prospect to post 8+ wins?

There is no broader purpose other than to talk about how good Aaron Judge is. I was bored and this is a baseball forum.

I remember those trade threads and was pissed when Judge came up and did so well.

So the consensus is we'd trade Albies for Judge, but not Acuna?

His hit tool should not be rated that high with the amount of strikes he has. The reason you see his game power at 55 is due to the belief that he would struggle to hit a ton of homeruns due to the strikeouts. So far that hasn't manifested but it does in the majority of those types of players.

comments on that are great

Lol, yeah.

Why would Atlanta want Gary Sanchez? They already have their catcher of the future in Christian Betancourt. Makes no sense.

As a Braves fan, we are rebuilding and if Hart traded away our #1 prospect for a C prospect with ” maturity and defensive” issues when we have Bethancourt, a superb defensive catcher, I’d stop supporting them…especially given the problems we’ve had at 2B these past few YEARS.

No way in the world do I support any trade involving Jose
Peraza as a Braves fan. It would make no sense to deal him with the amount of
work that has been done so far. If you want Aaron Judge or Severino, make a package
with another player we have, not our top prospect who will hit leadoff for
years to come for the Atlanta Braves.

He batted .284 last year and is at .311 this year.

Fangraphs tells me a 65 hitter will bat .290.

He also draws a metric **** ton of walks. OBP of .440 right now.

Time will tell but I suspect he settles into a 270-280 hitter with great power and a good OBP.

Yes, and I wouldn't think twice.

Judge has produced an 8 WAR season and appears to combine above average intelligence with above average physical gifts. He's the type of guy the Yankees are going to build a dynasty around.

His K% in the minors was never above 28.5% for a season, and the early returns are he's improved even more this year, as the stats in the OP indicate.

He's had enough at bats for his K% to stabilize. He's unlikely to improve better than 25 or 26 percent. And at those sort of K rates, it's nearly impossible to maintain a high average.

He's a very good player, but he likely won't be much different than Stanton over his career, and that isn't a knock Judge.
