SUNDAY MINORS FINAL 5/13/18: Record day for Riley!

???
does this support your claim that k-rates jump ~5% from AAA to MLB?

Indirectly, yes. Considering I was talking about Riley's K rate hurting his chances to stick at the MLB level, it exactly what I was talking about.

Never seen a study done explicitly on K rates.

His K rate at AA/AAA is sitting right at 25%. If he was seeing a steady diet of fastballs he couldn't handle, you'd expect that number to be higher, wouldn't you?

Just asking.

25% is not great.

Ive never seen him hit. But it could be that he's swinging early and not getting as many strikeouts on heat b/c he's hitting breaking balls. Or hitting fastballs away. Or guessing FB and cheating. I really don't know.

Strike out rates are not all created equal. If you work deep in counts you will strike out more and walk more. Some of the drama for the major league team is around the low Ks, but much of that IMO is about us jumping on pitches early.

There were a ton of reports that said he'd be a 1B his first year. Since then it gets more and more positive. I think Kiley had him as a below avg to avg 3B. I think Klaw recently said 55. So the trend is great but I'd say the consensus is not better than Avg. Plus arm, avg everything else.

I just assume if you are chronically unable to get around on major league fast balls, that by the time you hit AA you are getting a steady diet of them and things are going poorly for you.

25% isn't great, but not terrible these days either.

Time to bench Acuna and his 30+% K-Rate???
