GDT: Marlins @ Braves 5/18

MLB has this insane idea that admitting an umpire kicked a call somehow ruins the whole sport. It's why replay doesn't work. It's why they tried to sell the infield fly as correct. It's why guys like West and Bucknor haven't been fired.

...and that protection of umpires makes so many games unwatchable.
 
Once again, umpires should not be the ones looking over fellow umpires' shoulder. Put a former player, a reporter, or a stripper in the booth and you'd get a more accurate, more objective decision.
 
The current replay construct is "clear and convincing evidence that the call made on the field was incorrect." While Acuna may well have been safe, I just didn't see any angles that met the above criteria.
 
Oh would you look at that, hard hit, another out.

This stadium must have also been built on an Indian burial ground as this is sorcery.

This.. I hate it and I would say safe.. but I would not have over turned that..

I wouldn't say that.

While the Braves were hard on luck lately, traditionally the Braves are a popular team around the majors.

I highly doubt they're trying to f*** the Braves. I think this system is just turrible.

But the Cubs game...and Inciarte being called out at first like twice as an overturn? I don’t think the MLB is very consistent with that
 
If it's possible to have a negative BABIP, we had one tonight. Half the outs we made we're rockets right at guys.

Combine ridiculous bad luck with even more ridiculous officiating and you get a shutout.
