IMO the trademarks of a good broadcaster (or broadcasting team) is they give me information I don't already have or they present information in a way that brings me to a conclusion I might not otherwise get. That's why the Mets announcers are elite and why ours are so mediocre.

Those are good criteria; but I’d settle for entertainment without soapbox smarm.

Markakis back to pulling hard grounders to the right side of the infield, hence the double-play machine he’s been recently. Another reason to like him at leadoff.

He's kept his pitch count low so he's got a great shot at it. 57 / 4 is solid. If he tightens it up a bit more he could even go for a CG
