WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In what they believe is a legal masterstroke, lawyers for Donald J. Trump are now claiming that he cannot be impeached because he was never actually elected.
In a lengthy memo sent to the special counsel, Robert Mueller, the lawyers pushed back vehemently against any allegation that Trump was legally elected President.
“Because Russian interference made the election of Donald J. Trump wholly illegitimate, any attempt to remove him from an office that he does not legally hold is clearly impossible,” the memo asserted.
The memo claimed that the Constitution contains “no provision for removing a person from office when that person was installed there by a foreign power.”
The memo went on to argue that, if a subpoena is sent to the White House, it will be returned to Mueller and stamped “addressee unknown.”
“A person referred to in a subpoena as ‘President’ Donald J. Trump simply does not exist,” the memo claimed.
Minutes after the memo was leaked, the former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani appeared on “Fox & Friends” and proudly announced that he was its author.
“Sometimes I have to just step back and say, ‘Damn it, Rudy, you’re good,’ ” he said, beaming.

I think you will testify that I haven't gotten involved much in the Trump debate to this point, right? So, let me ask you a hypothetical question (or anyone else who's interested) what does it say about our nation when we have the choice between a president who is a decent human being but has policies you don't really care for (for the most part) versus a terrible human being who has policies that you do care for? Again this is a hypothetical question, a hypothetical you, and so on. My main point isn't about either of the last two presidents, but where we are as a nation and as a people?
I don't care much for the character of a person when it comes to instituting policies that impact my life and the lives of Americans. I would aboslutley take the strong policy choice and not even think twice about it.
In what world does it make sense to make it easier to become a air traffic controller becuase of a diversity agenda? Its so stupid its beyond comprehension.
And the destruction of the physical caliphate
And the removal of illegals committing violent crimes
And the best job market in a generation
And potential peace on the Korean peninsula
And the tightening of sanctions against a terrorist regime
Should I go on or is the drastic change in the generic polling showing you how wrong you are?

Yeah - Keep ignoring the policy discussion that brought up on the air traffic controllers. Convenient to ignore that.
Because you and your ilk think that character matters most is why people are leaving in droves. You have no policy. You have no solutions. All you have is victimhood.

Are we talking about an air traffic controller just chosen because of diversity or a qualified air traffic controller just chosen because of diversity? I don't have time right now to get into the whole affirmative action question but I will part with this one, it's the same thing I tried to tell our Christian brethren here 15+ years ago when they were willing to go along with an administration that was leading us into a war we should never have gone into (Iraq).
My question was this, do you think you can dance with the devil all night long and send him home at dawn with no repercussions ? I get the whole "policy over person" argument, I really do, but history is full of examples where people went along with bad leaders (from all over the political spectrum) because they gave them a cookie and they talked themselves into going along in spite of their better judgement.

I don't repeat it often, but I've said in the past that Obama was too fond of a regulatory approach for accomplishing his goals. He did not give enough weight to the cumulative negative impact this approach had on growth. When it comes to regulations the only rational way to do it is to weigh the costs and benefits as carefully as possible. I don't think this has happened under either the Obama or Trump administrations. Not surprising really because power politics and ideology tend to trump rational decision-making in a lot of these matters.

I think nsacpi is generally right here, but I'd add the caveat that certain externalities are under-weighed in deregulation decisions. Economic growth is essential, but it's not the only consideration. Blindly cheering deregulation might well mean cheering on real societal damage (financial crisis, ecological ruin), the cost of which is ALWAYS socialized.
