I promise I’m not inviting this particular comparison to be inflammatory, but if you just took out references to trans people, inserted black people, then pushed the clock back to as recently as the 50s, I don’t see how this argument would be materially different.

The way we’ve always thought or the way the majority of people currently think is not a compelling argument in and of itself.
 
Trans is a lifestyle choice and one that goes against basic biology. I'm aorry but the comparison to race which one cannot control just doesn't fly for me.

I get the logical argument you are trying to make and I know you aren't really focusing on groups but I think the distinction needs to be made

Would you prefer we go back 20 years to the experience of gay people then? I’m not going to try to discuss race vs. sexual orientation, as I assume it is fruitless (in the sense of convincing one another, not inplying I’m correct). My point remains that a change in the perspective in society can be both radical and justified.

Homosexuality has been a part of our society for well over a thousand years. Yes it was in the closet and it should not have been but transgenderism is a lifestyle choice born out of mental illness. It has never been widely accepted and never will be. The elites push to make it so has caused an unintended backlash that will actuality move us backwards in time. Societal moods but be gradual and organic no matter how long it takes

My point is ultimately that there was almost certainly a Jordan Peterson out there with an ‘intellectual’ argument about homosexuality at odds with what you’re expressing here. Whether or not something should or should not be socially accepted is its own question, but using our preconceived notions and the opinion of the majority to determine it leaves me nonplussed.

First they came for childrens’ sports, and I did not care because I was not a child sportsman.

Then they came for... nothing, because gender differences don’t really matter in practically any other context.
 
As I've said numerous times the past couple of weeks. I'm so glad this is the position of the left. It's so far outside of the mainstream and will continually drive more people towards candidates that think sensibly.
