Also Simmons - who was used to get Newcomb
And Gattis - who was used to get Folty
Thank God for Frank Wren
He signed Freeman to that team friendly deal. Without Wren he's likely playing 1B for the Angels

Seems like to me the Braves just need to give Julio 10 days between every start. He hit 93 yesterday.
Hard to tell, but I think the Wren stuff is just a troll. Hard to really understand it otherwise. never won a playoff series, made the playoffs less than half the time, and left a roster that a team notoriously devoted to contending every year concluded had no choice but to tank.
I think Coppy did a pretty decent job tanking despite evidently not being well suited to the GM job and the uh massive cheating. He was heavily critiqued for decisions he made that largely look just fine. He deserved to be fired and the Braves are likely better off without him.

Gattis has had one season above 1 fWAR.
getting folty for him is looking like a coup.

He was also 0.9 last year (after 2.7 in 2016), which is pretty close to 1.0. And at 0.8 this year, he’s well on his way to another ~2 fwar season.
But yea: that deal looked solid at the time, for the Braves, and looks even better now with Foltynewicz’s emergence.

Not trolling... Wren left Coppy in a really good spot to be successful for a rebuild
meh. not really.
no pitching anywhere. poor drafting. heyward (wasn't here because of wren anyways) and upton had 1 year left before FA.
we had a bad farm system and few young, controllable assets (heyward and upton weren't).
other than Acuna, Albies and Camargo you are spot on

also there were players drafted or acquired by Wren that were of some value as trade chips--Simmons, Woods, Justin Upton, Gattis. Not all of those chips were wisely used.
We also had the team friendly extension to Kimbrel that enhanced his trade value
And of course it's a lot easier to draft when you have top 5 picks every year
