Around the League: 2017 offseason edition / 2018 Season

Bahahaha.

I'll get a date with Gal Gadot before either of those trades happen. The Royals would be lucky to get someone the caliber of Alex Jackson for Moose. Guys that get passed over in FA and get forced to sign a deal with only 1 guaranteed year do not bring back top 100 prospects.

Britton might have pulled someone of Fried's caliber before his injury, but with less than a month before FA and a rough start back from a serious injury, it's extremely unlikely they get anyone close to Fried's value. Plus Fried himself is likely a rotation stalwart with our rotation revolving players on and off the DL.

One start has drastically raised Fried's perceived profile around here.

Maybe it should have. Dunno.

Even so, last thing we need is to trade rotation depth that is somewhat useful for a potentially still injured bullpen piece that hasn’t been good since his return

I would be more open to trading Fried for Avilan or something than Britton right now. Maybe if he actually shows dominance before the trade deadline

trading fried for britton would be really bad, IMO. and not just because of his last few starts.
fried was a top 100 guy by many places..it's not like it's only people here that think he will/can be good.

britton hasn't been good, at all, since 2016. that's a decade in RP years. he's probably done. he probably doesn't fix anything at all.

His adoption of the SI has improved his stock, not the results over the last handful of innings. With that pitch he is a legit #3. Without that pitch he is a swing man in the BP. I would not give that potential away for a rental BP arm with major injury concerns.

The Mous for Allard plus Touki is just laughably bad. There are LHH options at 3B for a small fraction of that cost that would likely improve the roster just as much as Mous.

Seems to me that Touki and Allard would be too much to give for Machado let alone for Moustakas.

And Fried for Britton...did he not see what the Royals got for Herrera? Complete and utter moron.

I suspect Fried was underappreciated here before and the recent success is just reminding us of the potential he always had.... (Nod to thethe)

Did you do a breakdown of Fried's last start? Anything jump out to you?

So it's July 3rd and we already know who's going to be in the playoffs in the AL. Absurd how top heavy that league is.

I'm just commenting generally. I doubt I would want to trade him for Britton.

There was another thread that wouldn't trade him for Clint Frazier and Brandon Drury, which I think is odd.

Based on what I can see from the pitch f/x data and your analysis of it, there is no evidence he is deploying a SI or at least that he is deploying a good one.

Rumors that he is experimenting with one or perhaps evidence that he has a bad one doesn't move his stock a whole lot with me.

And if we are talking about a #3 starter type at best, then I'm comfortable moving him for something substantial or something with control. I'm not real interested in moving him for situational relievers or platoon bats without control.
