2 thoughts. He could be more hurt than lead to believe. Or they don’t want to announce prospects until notified. Could also be discussing a few different guys and agreed to one from a group but need to run Medicals on all of them and need more time before agreeing to specific.

Rays had no choice other than dealing him today or run the risk of getting nothing for him. If they waited past the deadline, someone would have claimed him on waivers to block any deal.

Pretty good yeah. 2016 he was a 4 WAR pitcher, last year 2 WAR, and this year is tracking for 3-4... all of that in the AL East. Gotta think he has a chance to improve in the NL east

weird that the Pirates renaissance only began six years ago. Seems like it has been longer. Did not last too long, did it?

I suppose the Pirates could turn around and move Archer this winter if they don't get anywhere and get back a healthy return. But he fits as well for Pirates as he does for Braves in payroll.

It feels like the #Rays needed to clear a roster spot to make room for players they're getting back for Chris Archer. Otherwise, they'd have no motivation to make this type of deal.
