Russia Collusion Scandal (aka A Leftist fantasy)

Conspiring Against the USA. If Mueller is feeling generous and not use the T-word

First time it has crossed my mind the POTUS being named an Unindicted Coconspiritor in a conspiracy against the US. Let that sink in a minute

Sekulow also tried to cast blame on the Secret Service for not properly vetting the Russians. The Secret Service would have none of it.

“Well, I wonder why the Secret Service, if this was nefarious, why the Secret Service allowed these people in. The president had Secret Service protection at that point, and that raised a question with me,” Jay Sekulow, a member of the president’s legal team, said on Sunday on the ABC news program “This Week.”

In an emailed response to questions about Sekulow’s comments, Secret Service spokesman Mason Brayman said the younger Trump was not under Secret Service protection at the time of the meeting, which included Trump’s son and two senior campaign officials.

It could be that Mueller will issue his report, refer possible charges to the DoJ, and go on a long vacation.

I'm increasingly of the view that his job is to share the facts that he uncovers and allow the political system to work its will. There is some danger to him taking on more than he should. Just as Comey took on more than he should have with respect to the investigation into Hillary's emails.

My hope is he issues the report before the elections. The voters digest it and vote as they think appropriate. And the new Congress also take its time to digest the contents of the report and proceed as they see fit.

Can't wait for incoming Trump tweet tying the secret service to deep state and Obama.

I have a feeling it'll look something like this:

clocks a ticking. He might be able to hide behind the presisency now but he is fair game once he leaves office. Would be really satisfying if theres cops waiting for him after the inauguration. But who am I kidding. Law emforcement supports Trump almost at the rate black people vote democrat.

Journalist here claiming Mueller has good evidence of obstruction of justice. Trumps lawyers said his comments to Comey could not be obstruction because he did not know Flynn was under investigation at that point. Appatentlt Reince Priebus and another person told Mueller they told Trump before the Comey meeting. On top of that Mueller supposedly has a memo that shows Trump knew Flynn was under investigation at the time.

I was promised collusion and treason and all I may get is obstruction??

Lame

well you are getting collusion. General Flynn was working for Russia. He colluded with Russian agents to undermine the sanctions. The people who throw treason out there probably dont know the constitutional definition of treason. Unless Trump takes up arms against the US he wont be charged with treason.

You might say obstruction of justuce is weak but Trump knowingly asked the FBI director to nix an inestigation so he could keep a Russian agent aa National Security Director. Thats pretty serious.

In all seriousness, why is Trump Jr meeting for oppo research a problem, but HRC doing the same with fusion GPS not?

i believe it is against the law to accept campaign contributions from foreigners...that's the dry technical issue

the Trump Tower meeting indicated an eagerness for such assistance

when they were briefed later that summer by the FBI about Russian attempts to interfere they kept quiet

but more problematic for Trumpophiles is what they might have offered the Russians in return their assistance (which btw involved disseminating material stolen from another campaign...i believe there would be a crime here even if the Trump campaign were conspiring with an American partner in crime)...what did Manafartov mean when he asked how he might be able to use his position to set things right with Deripaska...what exactly was on offer when he said he was willing to provide briefings...why was Kilimnik invited to witness at close hand the changes to the GOP platform regarding Ukraine...and what did Trump mean when he invited the Russian ambassador to one of his speeches and promised "a good deal" on sanctions...and were the discussions on Trump Tower in Moscow carried forward by Cohen and Sater well into the summer of 2016 part of the quid pro quo

of course those who wish to avert their gaze will say that this is a nuttin burger witch hunt...that Mueller is wasting tax payer money, etc etc..

Hypothetical Hostile Foreign Government: We have kompromat on your opponent that can help you win.

Hypothetical Presidential Campaign: We love it. Let's meet.

Hypothetical President: Yes, we took the meeting to get dirt on our opponent.

Is there a precedent for this?

Its not complicated.

Rob Golstone's email to Junior includes this line: This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr. Trump.

Pretty clearly stated.

We want Trump to win. What can we do to help.

Lies.

Trump just said in his rally the other day "Russia was not happy that Trump won. That I can tell you."

Surely you’re not suggesting that there’s a difference between an explicit offer to provide (quite possibly criminal) material support from an adversarial foreign power and a contracted agreement in accordance with US election law.

I want to know how much income Manafort and Gates could have legally made in their consulting business. Looks like they had a gravy train but just had to have more.

Don’t know what motivated Gates beyond simple greed, but Manafort seemed to have a burn rate that defies belief. Combine that with the fact that our society doesn’t treat white-collar crime like, well, crime, and I think you’re on your way to an answer.

Still gonna refer back to Clay Davis from The Wire: “I’ll take any mother****er’s money if he givin’ it away!”

People like Viktor Yanukovych and Oleg Deripaska, et al, need to re-patriate (and in some cases, straight-up launder) huge sums of money. It’s an easy lure for people like Manafort and Gates, but I don’t want to lose sight of all of the bankers and white-shoe lawyers who nodded along with the various schemes. Once there are enough zeroes in the equation, morality seems to take a walk.
