Final Nats 5-1 over the Phiiiies. Phiiiies MN is down to 10, Nats at 9 and only .5 game back of Phiiiies.

Race for best record --Cubs +3, Brewers +1

Rockies -2, Dodgers -3

If the Braves go 8-8 over their final 16, the Phillies would have to go 16-1 to tie us. The Nats would have to go 16-0.

As long as we don't collapse, we got this.

It will take a fredi 2011 style collapse at this point. We blew a 8.5 game lead that season and even more just before Sept. if I recall correctly. I think we were up 3 for a playoff spot with 5 to play losing all five to end Sept (two vs Nats and Philly swept us at home). I couldn't believe a lead like that could be blown till I saw it with my own eyes. Fredi was so terrible too.

The 1% outcome. They happen obviously but it's a once in a life time deal.

The 3 up with 5 to play **** was inexcusable. I could almost give Fredi a pass for the previous three weeks, because our rotation was decimated with injuries, our bullpen was overworked, and there was some acts of God in there (the Marlins game). But all you had to do was win one game in your last 5 against the worst team in baseball and a team with nothing to play for, and you managed to lose every game. You can be imprisoned for such failure in some countries.

^We've blown a lead before but I just feel good with this team.

It’s more to do with the lack of a quality team behind them than it does with the Braves being good. Nice story and all, but until they win a playoff series it’s more of the same the last 15 or so years.

I remember cursing Derek Lowe that year. He was the poster child of the collapse.

AA should get a lot of credit for using winning the division if we do so, he made some really underrated additions that have kept us where we are. Plus he has made sure we put a much improved defense on the field, we've been much better defensively this year (despite our last homestand full of errors).

it was shocking, even i couldn't see Fredi screwing that up but he did. I remember telling a friend thank God we have enough of a lead Fredi shouldn't be able to blow now. We never won a game after that of course.

If you can’t see the Braves are a good team then you really don’t know baseball very well. Every measure says they are a good team and being 2nd to 3rd best team in the NL says so too.

The thing that I think he should get a tremendous amount of credit for is making those additions without subtracting basically anything from the farm system. It was a ridiculously good trade deadline. I'm glad we have AA leading us. Best hire we could have made.

Thank you Nationals for beating up on the Phillies the last couple days. Braves Country appreciates it. Hope it’s understood though, we can’t stand you again. It’s just business.
