If you want to know why women don't come forward with allegations

of sexual assault, watching a panel of Republican Senators hire a prosecutor

to try and pick apart Ford's credibility on national television

rather than launch an actual investigation offers a clue.

It is days like this I am amazed people can't / don't / won't connect the dots between Kavanaugh, border detentions 2018 style and something long ago discussed cutting funding for Meals on Wheels.

To my mind therein a pattern

For those convinced Dr. Blasey Ford’s allegations are a con job, it’s essential to remember Neil Gorsuch went to the same school and was also a staunch conservative, and no one questioned his character or actions — and 3 D’s voted for him. Today is about more than politics.

Chris Wallace on Fox News calls it a "disaster for the Republicans" says Ford's testimony is "extremely emotional, extremely raw, and extremely credible" you can't watch and "have your heart not go out to her"

this is horrible. as a country, we're ass.

let's prosecute the accuser, but not make one of the accused even testify.

Since Grassley wants EVERYONE TO KNOW HE WAS WILLING TO COME TO CALIFORNIA, perhaps they could accommodate Mark Judge and take a live trip to Delaware today. Like when the jury visited O.J.'s house.

they don't want to get to the bottom of what happened. it's that simple. they know it's likely true. they really don't care even a little bit about that.

I think a lot of people convinced themselves that Ford either wouldn’t testify or would not be a credible witness, either because it’s what they wanted to believe, or because they were misled by media and opinion-makers sympathetic to Kavanaugh’s nomination.

You could try to pick apart the minutiae and tangent facts, but the credibility of the allegation and the accuser have been there from the beginning, if you were inclined to hear it.

There has been a lot of bad blood, and a lot of incendiary stuff said in this thread, but for my part I can say that I recognize that most of the folks with whom I disagree in the thread (tapate, weso, jaw, etc) are saying their bit respectfully, in good faith, and with appropriate acknowledgements of their biases, etc. I’m not sure why it should have to devolve like this.

****, it’s more than just that. They didn’t even want to have this hearing. Despite all the messaging games about whether or not forward was going to testify, the fact is they wanted to shut down that lane if possible and have a vote… because they absolutely must have known that this hearing was going to be a bad look for them.

it is I suppose more comfortable for some to adopt the view that this was yet another example of "the left" trying to destroy a good man rather than a brave woman coming forward to do her civic duty...I cant really fathom why anyone would favor the former narrative in this situation...sometimes a cigar is just a cigar

i don't think they expected her to testify. she called their bluff. this is certainly a terrible look for them.
