There are plenty of things to legitimately criticze Trump over, but this one is a reach considering he followed an administration that allowed Russia to invade Crimea, Arab Spring, and China's artificial islands in the Spratlys. I can't figure out what the plan is in the Middle East, but we're playing harder ball with Russia and China right now than we have in a decade.

WRT to Saudi Arabia, we could stop selling them advanced weapons systems, quit supporting their slaughter in Yemen, stop looking the other way while they jail and kill dissidents, and quit sucking up to their “reformist” princeling. None of those things remotely involves interventionism or being “the world’s police.” It’s just putting out money where our mouth is.

With Russia? I dunno. Congress has enacted some additional veto-proof sanctions, which the administration slow-walked, even carving out exceptions for Rusal, etc. I’m not sure I’m seeing hardball.

Mattis had the 2nd Fleet reinstated and stated very clearly that it was to curb any Russian aggression. Then we started sending carriers, subs, and destroyers into places they don't often go that make Russia nervous.

Ironically the shooter was yelling "this is for healthcare", so he was shooting at the government because he wanted MORE government.
