Chipper Jones picked the Dodgers to win in 4.

Obviously it's within chipper's rights to say whatever the hell he wants. that doesn't mean he necessarily should. he could have been more diplomatic and tactful, as someone else pointed out. he's still basically part of this organization. hanging his team and friends out to dry by saying they will lose in 4 was just stupid. "lying" about something like this is so not serious, it doesn't even matter.

"Lack of character" is just so dumb. GTFO with that.

One thing I will blame Fredi for is for not making somebody from the team go out to catch Chipper. He should've seen this coming. It could've been anyone, a coach even. He delegates that to TP or Eddie Perez and everyone's happy. Then we never would've heard about the tiff and the organization could've swept it under the run like I'm sure they wish they could.

Almost 15 years of marriage has taught me that you can get pissed off and still be civil to one another.

Chipper was just being honest but I can see why the Braves players were so pissed. It will all be okay and everyone will be friends again.

I love this Braves team though. I love the new attitude. They dont take any crap. Sure it seems stupid at times, but i LOVE it.

I didn't hear the interview so I don't know whether he gave his prediction voluntarily or they asked him but it doesn't matter, he's fully within his right to pick whoever he wants to pick. He has no tie to the Braves organization right now. When he's playing he obviously wouldn't pick against his own team since he can influence the outcome. As an outsider/observer he can offer an unbiased opinion based on what he's seen this year. It's a credit to him that he could give an honest assessment instead of a biased one. Once again there was nothing wrong with what he did. I hope he does it again in the future, then when he picks the Braves to win a postseason series we'll be able to take it more seriously than we would have if he always picks the Braves. That's generally how it works. There is nothing worse than a bunch of homers hyping up their team when they don't deserve it.

isn't chipper a spring instructor or something to say he doesn't have ties to atl is sily

Chipper with a classy apology. Looks like we can finally sweep this stupid **** under the rug. Although, the Braves clubhouse should offer up an apology too.

That's not really an apology, that's more of an explanation of his actions and a reaffirmation of his dedication to the organization. Whether it was warranted or not, I hope the Braves just let him know he's appreciated in return after all of this.

6 season in the NFL is a lifetime in MLB.

So, it's ok to state his opinion as long as he's getting paid for it?

People getting paid for it generally try to be unbiased b/c no one will take that person seriously as an analysts if they don't.

Chip could have been supportive of his teammates and friends instead of saying something stupid in front of reporters. But then again, saying something publicly that he should have kept to himself isn't exactly a new phenomena with Chipper. He's made quite a few boneheaded comments in his day.

If your friends or family were playing in the biggest game(s) of their lives, there isn't a single person here that can honestly say they would tell them "you're probably going to lose."
