My position and your position cannot be supported by anything other than our opinions. We will have to see what the data shows when the wall is erected.

Right now a tremendous amount of drugs are flowing through our country from South of the Border. That much is known. Everything else is speculation.

It can be supported by John Kelly who said drugs from Mexico mostly come in through PoE. The DEA reports on the methods drug traffickers are using and none of it would be stopped by a wall. From Mexico they hide them in vehicles crossing the border through PoE. Colombians use planes and boats. Majority of heroin in New Jersey is from human couriers through Newark airport. Etc. The wall is a 2D solution in a 3D world.


The whole subject of the war on drugs is kind of what I do. I know you understand supply and demand and basic economics.

I already addressed this. That is based on apprehensions. The whole point is we can't quantify what isn't being found so to perform a ration analysis on how to prioritize the methods to stop all drug flow is a futile exercise.
 
So CNN tried to get a viewpoint from some news agencies in San Diego on immigration. They didn't bring any of them in because they all said a Wall would work.

The Trump administration originally tried to sell 64 deaths in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.
The number later disclosed was closer to 2500.

Yes - Just like gun violence statistics include suicides. All numbers speak to people in different ways and we choose to interpret them in ways that conform to our perception of reality.

So when people ever think a number means one think they are a sucker. A patsy. A fool.

Cajun...how is it possible to quantify an unknown? Come on - A lot of what you are speaking about in terms of causes of drug usage and prevention of drug usage rings completely true but to make an argument that we know how many drugs come into our country and their sources is crazy.

Organized drug trafficking will NOT be affected in any significant way by a wall. To think so is naive beyond belief.

What do you think the DEA does. They sure claim to know a lot about how much drugs come into our country and their sources. They release a report about it every year even. The DEA does all kinds of intel work. They got Chapo on trial right now and they are playing his phone calls to all his girlfriends. If it was viable to cross the border at non PoE there wouldnt be tons trying to come through the PoE. In baseball terms the drugs physically smuggled across the land border with Mexico at a non PoE where we would put the wall is comparable to how much HBP contributes to to a players OBP.

You know, there’s a reason that there hasn’t been meaningful progress on the wall even after two years of Republican control of Congress. The reason, in simple terms, is that it’s a dumb idea, and virtually everyone in the decision-making sphere recognizes this. Your continued assertion that we have to build a physical barrier across the entirety of the southern border in order to find out how drugs are smuggled ties a pretty neat bow on this hypothesis.
