The Trump Presidency

Dems playin' chess, Trump playin' checkers. All these idiots behind the Manchurian Trumpster should be very nervous. Stone will fold like a cheap suit when the heat gets too high. That Trump perp walk will be something to see. Although that humiliating defeat on election night 2020 would hurt Trump more and would be so much more satisfying.

Trump played this shutdown resolution so poorly. He should have walked out into the rose garden with an air of humility. He should have said that his advisers are telling him to continue fighting for the border wall. To keep the government shut down. But that he can't in good conscience let the Democrats continue to harm so many Americans. That he'll seek other methods to gain funding for the wall. Try to find compromises, incentives, or other ways to pressure the Democratic leadership.

He could have gone out there and been the one nobly taking the step to end the shutdown. But he just couldn't do it. He couldn't help but try to cast this as a deal he chose to make.

The Republicans played this so badly. The Dem leadership behaved every bit as poorly as Trump and McConnell did in this shutdown yet will likely walk away being hailed as the victors.

The sad truth is that are not no victors in this shutdown, only losers.

Nancy Pelsoi threw out the "Let them eat cake" quote and Trump folded less than 24 hrs later. She clearly won this round rather convincingly.
 
In the Republican controlled Senate, the Dem's proposal gets more votes than the Trump/GOP proposal.

That is just mind-blowing. Why in any version of reality would McConnell and Trump agree to such a humiliating vote with these outcomes???

Even the most brainwashed Trumpster has to admit that this guy is terrible at government.
