Political Correctness

“While waiting to speak on the floor of the People’s House, a member of Congress shouted, ‘go back to Puerto Rico!’ I was shocked, because I often heard those kinds of comments when I was a kid growing up in Pacoima, California, where I was born and raised,” Cardenas told TPM through a spokesperson. “A few hours later, I received a call from Congressman Jason Smith, who took responsibility for the comment and sincerely apologized. I accepted his apology.”

“I told him I look forward to having a nice and respectful conversation when we return to D.C. on Tuesday. He agreed that we should get to know each other better,” Cardenas continued. “I appreciate his call and our future relationship. There is a saying that I was taught by my parents, de todo lo malo, siempre sale algo bueno, which in English means, ‘from everything bad, something good will come of it.'”

The Santa Barbara City College said last week it had decided to 'discontinue the use' of the Pledge of Allegiance to the American flag at meetings for reasons related to its history and symbolism.
However the board reversed the decision on Tuesday as members had 'First Amendment Rights' to comment which had to be respected.
Despite the u-turn, actor Rob Lowe took to Twitter to express his disapproval at initial decision.
The Parks and Recreation actor tweeted: 'Humiliated for Santa Barbara City College making national news for their idiocy.'

Now THIS is what I call progress!

This reminds me. There was a guy suing his parents for circumcising him without consultation. Anyone know how that lawsuit went. It seems to me that he had a case. A better one anyhow than the anti-natalist.

i love when this thread gets bumped

i love the dripping irony of it all

it's like a preview of a couple crazy people trying to paint anyone that disagrees with them as the stories they share in here

it's great

I'm disappointed no one wants to talk about TERFism and circumcision without consent

I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it, but I do remember a book written by a woman in the 1980s that predicted the schism between feminism and what was then a miniscule transgender phenomenon. The argument then is that M2F transgendered individuals were ultra-feminine caricatures of women as such undermined women as a whole.

It can get silly at times. It seems to me Sullivan laid out a well-reasoned case why the trans movement is not antithetical to feminism in its various incarnations. The hate from this British group of feminists is kind of shocking.

Rob Lowe is in trouble.

He should know you can only make fun of white people.

He had the audacity to make fun of a white person.

It was a good career for the comedian. But our new society doesn't allow jokes

We got some serious issues in this country. Progressives have taken race relations backwards 50 years
