Around Baseball - 2013 Postseason GDT Edition

We heard all summer for Heyward how the Dodgers would mop the floor with the Cards and how the Cards starters couldn't match up.

Now, instead of admitting he was wrong (thethe too), he is making excuses.

I think the Hanley injury had a lot to do with this series. If Hanley is hurt against us we beat the Dodgers as well.

But, St Louis is a great organization that keeps one getting quality major league pitching. Good for them.

Ironic that you are calling out people on not being able to admit that they were wrong.

Greinke gave up 2 runs.

Kershaw gave up 1 run.

Ryu threw a shutout.

Nolasco didn't pitch well.

You would think if that happens, at worst a split through 4, if not up 3-1.

And their best hitter/player getting hit in the ribs makes a huge difference.

You think if Hanley has hurt ribs vs us, we beat them I think we do. He's a game changer when healthy.

So I'm not exactly wrong.

I wasn't expecting their best player arguably to have no impact because of him getting hit in the ribs.

Kelly gave up 2 runs

Wacha gave up 0

Wainwright gave up 2

Lynn gave up 2

Hanley has basically been hurt since game one.

He didn't play in Game 2.

He can barely grip a bat right now.

It would be like having Beltran like that for the Cards.

Game two lineup was Ellis, AGon, Ellis, Punto, Uribe, Puig, Schumaker, Crawford.

That bases loaded situation in game 2 with a healthy Hanley changes the series.

Hurt ribs in baseball are a bitch.

It's at worst tied if he's healthy, at worst.

It doesn't win them the series but a healthy Hanley is a game changer.

LOL. Whatever you want to tell yourself to admit how wrong you were. The way you spoke of the Dodgers, they were gonan win the NLCS if Hanley batted left handed.

I never said theyd sweep them, I said they would win in 6 or 7.

Having a healthy Hanley changes a lot.

But obviously him being hurt makes no difference, right.

So Miggy being not 100% makes no difference for the Tigers, your logic.

Miggy isn't as hurt but can't do a whole lot as he could when healthy.

Why aren't the Dodgers getting a lot of heat for struggling to fill the stadium throughout the playoffs.

That's your opinion, and if you read quotes from players, they disagree with you. It's become too much. If it's getting national press, then obviously something is off.

Well had to offend one of the press's darling teams for it to get attention. Guarantee media would not be criticizing him if this happened in the Braves' series.

His stuff was a little over the top, but most of this "unwritten rule from the old days" crap has gotten too absurd.

Also notice it's only players from the opposing team while all the Dodger people support it. If we're gonna play the whole "it was only this and it wasn't even this" card, why not get on players like John Lackey who exclaim **** yeah after getting out of the fourth or fifth inning.

Having your best hitter definitely makes a difference. But it's not like the NFL or NBA where you have to have that guy. Who's to say Hanely hits well even if he was healthy? That's not even close to a given. Bonds is the best hitter most of us have seen and his teams were 2-7 in playoff series'.

Buck and McCarver just slobbering all over the Red Sox - disgusting. Is there anyone that is going to miss listening to McCarver ramble?
