Around Baseball - 2013 Postseason GDT Edition

What would McCan have done with Puigs bat flip?

lol, it is funny you criticize Mac who is universally known as a classy player in this league, and has been called that by many. Yet, you like and defend Bryce Harper's character. Very interesting.

I don't even know why you get upset anymore.

Its obvious to me he is trolling.

Puig is probably going to get some pushback for his behavior at some point, but the guy is the real deal. I saw a lot of Kirby Puckett in his prime and Puig reminds me of him to some extent. He's not a perfect player and he'll likely need to make adjustments, but he's all of 22 with a ton of talent and a real verve for the game.

I have no problem with his enthusiasm - its actually really nice to see on the baseball field - but his bat flip after hitting one off the wall is just ridiculous

And I'm sure someone will have a Popeye moment (It's all I can stand and I can't stands no more) and plunk him sometime next season.

I'd lay even odds that Puig will receive a 50 game suspension sometime in the next 2 years. Any takers?

Just a case of Latino exuberance. They are coached, taught, educated differently. And he works in LA. Doubt anyone there tries to temper his enthusiasm.

God bless, some people are way too uptight. The celebration was premature at first, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with what he did. Next time, get him out.

Better the Cards than the Dodgers. I will always root against the teams that try and buy a world series. Its sad that a team cant make the world series with a 200 million dollar payroll. Imagine what the Braves could do with another 110 million to spend in payroll. We could sign Cano, Matt Garza, Joe Nathan, Carlos Beltran, Brian McCann, and Jacoby Ellsbury and still not be at 200 million. The Dodgers have 216 million payroll and wont make the world series. The Yankees have 228 million payroll and didnt even make the playoffs. Thats like a grown man getting beat in a game of basketball by a 5 year old with down syndrome, just flat out embarrassing.

That's your opinion, and if you read quotes from players, they disagree with you. It's become too much. If it's getting national press, then obviously something is off.

I still can't understand how someone would feel the need to act that way and think it's ok. It's one thing if that was a game winning home run in game 7 of the world series, but we're in the NLCS and his team was down 2-0 and it wasn't even a home run....

And Lynn put one in his ear last night, so my guess is this particular chapter is over for now, but let's not let teams like the A's off the hook. They act like a bunch of 8th grade girls at a sock hop (school dance for those of you too young to be familiar with the term) and the media trumpets how it's all in good fun and shows team spirit. The Red Sox and this goofy beard crap is only about half a lap behind. I'm all for a little style, but it's starting to border on the ridiculous.

But what a game between the Tigers and Red Sox. One of the best post-season games I've seen in a long time. That series is turning out to be a good one.
