260 million for Arenado. Rox continue to waste money. I love Arenado, but he'll be 29 next year.

they are paying him between 8 and 9M per expected win

same going rate that the Pods paid Machado

these are not awful awful deals...they reflect where the market is

the Hicks signing was more a win for the Yankees

Dude also said we had a deal lined up for Kimbrel last week.

That was a different guy... a dude from 680 the fan. I may be wrong but I thought Crane only said we were talking to him... never said anything about a deal inked or even close. I don’t know anything about Crane but he’s been spot on this off season.

Crane did too. I’ll find the tweet.

Julio's contract isnt an issue either, dumbass. Ender's contract is fine, it's what makes him very valuable in a trade.

Except that the braves couldn’t give him away for nothing and spent an offseason passing on viable targets because of money. But sure the replacement level pitcher making 12m and blocking other acquisitions is no problem ‘talll.

Paul Crane knows absolutely nothing. Complete fraud.

He was going around saying the Yankees were close with Harper/Machado before Machado signed with the Padres, and the Yanks clearly aren't a front runner for Harper.

If you or I started a Twitter right now, we could say the same **** and accrue followers. Social media is in many ways the worst.

Well I’d rather not have it and I think the braves would agree.

I bet the Braves or any team would be happy to sign that deal for Teheran even if he's going to be underpaid in is final season. It's not some kind of albatross or anything. The only issue is the Braves should have traded him when they decided to rebuild. Since the Braves aren't rebuilding it makes no sense to Trade Enter right now when he is a 3 WAR player and super cheap. Like Teheran his contract will never be an issue.

They guaranteed control years in exchange for 12m this year and option for next.

They’ve derived no benefit from the deal because the extra year is above market and the braves will buy out the option.

No way of looking at it other than it was a bad decision.

He certainly should have been traded when people were saying things like the extra control makes him an even better asset. It probably didn’t but there was a point where the braves could have gotten something for him rather than have to pay to get rid of him.

He’d sign for something under 6m if he was FA.

If Harper signs with the Dodgers and we sign Kimbrel to a one year deal....I’ll laugh my butt off at the Phils.

Giving up the 3rd Round pick and only signing Kimbrel for a year would be pretty stupid - tough to see them signing him for less than 2-3 years even if they could afford him.

i think teheran's contract clearly hampered the braves' ability to upgrade cOF or catcher, tho. without that someone like brantley is attainable. with it, we end up with markakis.

Considering the projections had Markakis getting an AAV of $8-$10 million, the savings from his deal combined with the "overpay" if a similar SP to Julio came for the $6 million previously mentioned their monies are roughly a wash - Julio's probably not the reason we got Nick rather than Brantley.
