Around The Majors 2019

Tatis to open the season with the Padres. Good for baseball, probably bad for the Padres long term.

Love what the Padres are doing. Paddock going to start the year in the rotation.

Their owner must be willing to actually spend money whereby super 2 is irrelevant.

So with hearing that Kimbrel is wanting 3 years and the Braves are hesitant that tells me that they are at least talking. The Brewers were all about him and then fizzled just like hearing the Nats and Phillies were interested. The one team who hasn’t went away in rumors are the Braves. What do you think the odds are that AA finally pulls the trigger?

Guyer resigns with the White Sox on a minor league deal. Don’t know the terms but I can’t imagine it’s much on a split contract. Lost opportunity to improve the bench even if marginally.

It's happening. Craig needs to go to the HOF with an A on his hat

It’s likely

Guyer picked up by the white sox on a minor league deal. Looks like Markakis really is getting 600 PAs again this year since there’s nobody to platoon with him.

and people think we're going to entertain picking up an OF to relegate Markakis to the bench?

So I guess we are going to have a 3 million dollar minor leaguer who can’t hit and severs no purpose. Nice plan.

Oh and our best chance to rest our two LHH out fiielderd is with two infielders who hardly played outfield or another non lefty hitting old dude. Great plan.

Culberson clearly has OF in his skill set, but is a limited player offensively -- well, he's most likely a limited player offensively.

I have no particular concerns with Camargo manning LF. He's hardly going to be a gold glover, but he's likely to fit within the range of acceptable.

If they had just said their intent was to give Camargo two games a week in the OF vs LHP to spell Markakis and Inciarte, then we could all have processed that and accepted it and seen the ways that it makes sense. Instead, they've left it in limbo and not played Camargo much in the OF and made it look like they've done nothing but pick up a twice released player in Matt Joyce, who is likely washed up, to fill the 4th OF role.

I think Camargo as 4th OF trial a completely reasonable strategy.

I have no idea whether that's what they are going to do or not. They are communicating with their fans poorly.
