4/1. Cubs game 1

I'm going to wait on judging the young starters... I know I'd be amped up being a part of a rotation right out of camp my rookie year. Especially in a place like Philly in that crowd on opening day after they acquired the world.

He's really fallen off the past few years, but I was still surprised it took so long for someone to sign him.

With the state of affairs in MLB it didn't surprise me that much. The veteran aged 30+ player who's a ~1 WAR guy isn't going to garner much attention in FA these days.

Remember when Ronald started ice cold and everyone (including us), thought he had no chance at ROY? That’s how I feel about our young starters. I feel they will get better as the year goes....they better. One or two of them taking off is what AA has gambled on.

All true. I just thought with the Braves paying Markakis what they did, the market for Jones would be slightly more lucrative than it turned out to be. Jones' defense seems to have fallen off as much or more than his bat. His reverse splits may have scared off folks looking for a true RHH for the bench. That said, he can at least stand in CF without making a fool of himself. He's in a hitters' park, so it will be interesting to see if his power numbers hold up.

Fun game to watch even if we did get helped out by errors and the Cubs leaving men on base.

The pen going 5 innings with ZERO BB's and Ozzie getting 2 doubles left handed were my highlights.

Parsons, Biddle and Sobotka have looked pretty good so far. Getting Minter back will help. Hopefully Snit will have 6-7 guys in the pen he has confidence in and be able to avoid riding any one guy too hard.
