Potential In Season Trade Targets

I figured I would make a thread discussing some in season trade options to help supplement this team, since it will inevitably be discussed. One guy that has caught my eye recently as a cheap option to bolster our offensive depth is Niko Goodrum from the Tigers. He can play basically anywhere on the field, hits lefties really well, and isn't a scrub vs. right handed pitching either. I think he could be a solid addition at some point to give us even more offensive depth if we think we need it at some point.

But really, right now, I'm sure that most people will be exploring options to bolster the bullpen. It has been really bad to start the season. I do expect it to improve, but its definitely a concern right now.

Assuming the Orioles are gonna be sellers, Mychal Givens from the O's. Pretty good high leverage arm, under control rest of this year, and 2 more after next year.

Not sure what the cost would be, but he'll be a valued piece at the deadline i'm sure.

Non BP options, we do need a versatile IF/OF guy but those guys arent easy to find.

I still really like the Soler idea someone came up with a month or so ago.

Kimbrel isn’t a trade target, but he makes a lot of sense as well, depending on price.

Does everyone think we’re really going to wait until June 5 to sign Kimbrel? Will he wait until June 5 for us?

Are teams afraid of the QO with Kimbrel or his asking price. DOB said Braves are offering 2 with an option and thinks 3 full years gtd would get it done.

At this point I don’t think anyone knows what’s going on, but he may as well wait until after the draft now.

At that point he’s a better “trade” target than any real trade target.

If the Braves are sitting a few games over .500 in early June, still have an average or worse BP, and still have all the cash they didn’t spend on “that trade target with a big salary”, they will be pretty hard pressed to find reasons not to give Kimbrel $10M-$15M for the rest of 2019.

The Giants look like they will be sellers and they a couple lefty relievers, Will Smith and Tony Watson, I would have interest in. Watson's stuff is down a tick so far this year. Something to keep an eye on. But he was very good last year.

Would keep an eye on Givens. In terms of versatile IF/OF guy, Giants have Solarte and the presumption is they will be sellers. Rangers might be sellers and they have Asdrubal Cabrera. Both have played mostly infield in their careers. Dietrich with the Reds is not as good a defender but has played corner infield and outfield. The ideal pickup has Duda's bat but a bit more positional versatility.

I’d be interested to see if the Braves move Inciarte as a part of a big mid season deal. Either for a major OF bat or as part of a deal for a front line starter.

An outfielder would have to come back. Short term Acuna could play center. Next year there is a possibility Pache could be ready and in 2 years Waters. We wouldn’t have a replacement this year though if we got a pitcher.

I was surprised they weren't in on him last season. Checks all the boxes.

Twins drafted Goodrum fairly high way back when, but he's another guy that took longer than expected to put it together.

At this point, I think the draft pick compensation is holding up the Kimbrel signing. Unless a closer goes down for a team expecting to contend, I think everyone will wait until June.
