GDT: 4/7 Newk vs. the World

welcome to the jungle baby

Ha ha

In the past most of the posters think I am a bitch to deal with, just turning a new leaf. Almost all of them known me since 2003 or so.

I can navigate the jungle but I am being like Progressive Insurance, navigate and make things simpler and trying to talk their language.

You can check 247 if you like but I was even on before then. Same name.

he has 100% been laying off the sliders so much better so far. people gave up on him even becoming an average hitter, which was absurd to me. it’s still early and a SSS tho. haven’t even looked at his numbers but feel like he’s barely striking out. also hope moving up in the order won’t hurt him.

I see improvements.

I think he can be at least a Jeff Blauser and that is not bad.

All you folks complaining about directv and MLBTV...Stop wasting your money on that crap. Firestick and FSSGO App...never miss a game...

that is not what you said

I know what I meant. It played out like I feared it would last night. If Ozzie isn’t batting second Donnie Baseball has to make extra pitching change(s). He leaves Romo in to not turn Ozzie around then has to go get the LHP for Freeman then has a decision to make with Ronald before getting to another LHH in Nick and possibly get down to Albies (in what place he should have been batting vs. a right handed starter) and make another call to the pen for another RHP because no way in hell were they going to let Ozzie bat right handed with the game hanging in the balance! It sounds like a lot would have to happen in the bottom of the ninth for all that to happen but a lot happened in the bottom of the ninth today. After thinking about it Swanson should have been batting in the two hole Saturday night in order to give Donaldson a night off.

name calling? Ur better than that Cy.

And yes, i am reactionary, which shouldn't surprise any of you. I just want my team to win. I'm really frustrated LM doesn't care about our team.

However, I can see that my opinions don't matter here, so I'll do you all a favor and leave.

You’ve always been a good, level-headed poster. The heel-turn doesn’t suit you.

whatever you say champ

Thanks.

But smootness is right. There are other layers in signing Kimbrel and he is on his downside. I even think Viz throws harder than him now and Kimbrel has not done well in Boston or they would have retained him after they lost the other hard thrower (Kelley) who is not doing well now.

Craig is throwing harder now than he was when he came into league. He's down from his career high, but still throwing 97+ consistently.

So Newk bought another start I would say right?

Lets hope he can build off of today because his stuff is top notch.

Good riddance

I think so. But not opposed to sending him down to work on shorter inning spurts in a pseudo Hader type roll eventually. Have him hitting 96 and see if a change of rolls calms him down. And No I am not saying he is equivalent to Hader.

When Folty gets back the Braves will have 6 guys that have pitched well enough to be in the rotation. Soroka also is probably ready if healthy.

I think the best 5 are Folty, Gaus, Soroka, Wright and one of Fried or Newk, with Julio showing he might not be cooked yet, but I’m not sure how they will decide honestly.

How do you think it would work out if all 7 guys were on the major league team and you alternate Soroka/Fried/Newk/Wright as starters using a piggyback system?

I'm just not sure if Newk is bullpen material. Maybe if you make him exclusively a guy that starts innings but that puts some handcuffs on your decision making. He can't be trusted to come in with runners on base IMO and hope his control is sharp immediately.

Depending on camera/gun.

ERA in Boston was not elite for what he is asking.

And our closer has almost a near run better in ERA. Kimbrel is not elite and not what he asking for so stop it.

I will drop the mic now.
