Around The Majors 2019

My goodness the gNats are bad!

Looks like the Braves were wise to move on from Anibal. 4.74 FIP with an era pushing 6.

Suzuki with a 698 OPS and -0.1 fWAR in 15 games compared to B Mac with a 823 OPS and 0.4 fWAR in 13 games. Looking like a good decision so far as well.

And while this is likely to change at any moment but Scherzer with his 1-4 record with an ERA over 4 is nice to see. He's pitching well with just a ****ty 377 BABIP. Hopefully that bad luck continues against him for awhile.

But yes they aren't a good team at all right now.

Heyward with a multi hit game last night and now with a 967 OPS on the year

Walking more than he is striking out. Power has returned as well. Good for Jason. BABIP is a little high compared to his career average, but not outlandishly so. Wonder what adjustments he's made?

Now there's room for Duvall to be recalled.

#Braves optioned Shane Carle to Triple-A shortly after he gave up six hits and five runs in one inning today. He has a 9.64 ERA.

Corresponding move not released as yet. Hope it's Duvall.

Why? I hope it’s Touki to get some work out of the pen so we can start to get it straightened out. That would make more sense.

Why Carle was optioned!!

#Braves recalled Touki Toussaint from Triple A today after optioning Shane Carle Thursday.

Hopefully this the start of them fixing the bullpen internally by converting some of these starters.

I still think Toussaint is a good starter long-term (I think I’m higher on him than most), but it can’t hurt for him to work on getting MLB hitters out right now; they can always stretch him back out next year.

Yep because every single starting pitcher makes a seamless transition to a different role.
If you really want to fix the bullpen you actually need to address it. Maybe Touki can pitch out of the bullpen or maybe he can’t. If haphazard answers like this is the Braves plan to fix a legit problem then the front office should update their resumes.

No one said that should be the only thing they do, dumb****.

Fried credits being in the pen last year for his improvement. Lets continue that trend and have Touki ready to dominate in 2020 out of the starting rotation.

You implied it in your post. Don’t back track now because I called you out on a dumb thing to say.
Just accept your defeat and move along.

Please show me where I implied anything of the sort. Go ahead, I'm not going anywhere.

Maybe you haven't been paying attention (and considering that you clearly can't read, you probably weren't) I, and many others on this board, have been proponents of them moving some of the lesser starting pitching options to the bullpen because that's where they'll likely ultimately end up anyway. You probably won't grasp this concept, but using pieces to help fix the bullpen internally as much as possible is much smarter than spending a bunch of assets on external options. And, since you weren't paying attention, you probably also missed me voicing my belief that they should sign Kimbrel and should have signed at least one quality veteran arm in the offseason.

This is probably a waste of my time, because that paragraph is probably too many words for you to read. Unfortunately for you, I'm not going to add any racist remarks to make it easier for you to follow along.

It also might be the only thing they need to do, given the performance volatility and incommensurate high cost of relievers.

If Anthopoulos can find good value of the trade-market (like Brach last year), I’m all for it; but if teams are asking for top-ten prospects for short-term relief help, I’d much rather see the Braves cycle through young starters cutting their teeth in relief, relief prospects like Webb or Burrows or Clouse, or fast-riser 40-man options like Ynoa (who probably wasn’t going to stick as a starter anyways).

And also sign Kimbrel after the draft.
