2020 Field

"The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.

To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."

-Douglas Adams, "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe"

barring some sort of health issue the contours of the 2020 race are pretty set and i think the outcome is boringly obvious

Biden sweeps to victory in both the primary and general elections

he will govern in a boring centrist restorationist mode...the country will like that after the trauma of Trump

did i say it is all going to be boring...i think i did

boring

sorry folks

yawn

What did I do to deserve Biden vs Trump? Guess I'll be voting for the Hamburglar this time around since neither side put out a serious candidate yet again.

Should we start the Biden isn't healthy story because you know some progressive hack job is coming for him in the primaries. Ageism is a thing now in this race on the left.

I asked goldy 12 times if he supported any restrictions to abortion. He refused to answer, which told he doesn't.

Apparently Mayor Pete is with him in no restrictions.

yeah...i agree...these kinds of answers are problematic...to me at least...but i also detect a similar reticence on the part of many pro-life people about questions such as when does a fetus acquire legal rights and how those rights evolve over the course of a pregnancy

Ridiculously stupid. If he wants to go there he should talk about financing stadiums with public money.

I bet we could raise teachers pay a good bit if we focused on the core stuff and less on raising a SJW zombie horde.

As "crazy" as some of these are, none of them come close to the lunatic Trump is.

When people see something they obviously disagree with --- they find it "stupid"

Pretty sure everyone gets Sen Sanders point.
Whether they agree or disagree is another matter

Let's lose the term "stupid" to define something we obviously disagree with.
Up your game --- use your words

Explain why it is "stupid" and let me come to my own conclusion
...............

I surmise sturg disagrees with the candidate
What is wrong with what Sen Sanders said ?

Lets use Bryce Harper as our model. ~$25M per / 13yrs
and why cant he live on (be offered) say a reasonable $5M a year the rest going to teachers and schools ?

$5M is an awful lot of cake
I 'd argue as does Sen Sanders our collective priorities are screwed up

If his point was to show he doesn't understand basic economics then sure. I am kind of broken down on the side of the road so I am not going to post a book about where Bernies economics are wrong. He has my vote based on his position of ending the war on drugs. He will never get more than 2% of his economic agenda passed Congress and that's even if Democrats hold the Presidency and both houses of Congress.

You've proven time and time again you dont understand either not are you interested in understanding.

Here's a start, the nation doesn't pay baseball players.

of course we do.

When Ford advertises a $45K basic truck on TV, which sponsors MBL, or US Army advertises pre game and during tele/radio casts ---
as Cajun pointed out, we the taxpayer are left holding the bill to stadiums -- leading to higher ticket prices
For an economics guy, you over look alot of nuts and bolts economics.

Take time to look at the skepticism aimed at Sanders tenure as Mayor of Burlington and results.
(Before anyone starts, Burlington ,Vt is not USof A)

he gets the negative press as he does for a reason.
Looking who is behind the onslaught of negative press is telling.
Does it start with a K and end in an H ?
........................

Pretty sure Sen Sanders has ascended to where he is with a pretty good understanding of economics. He has perhaps a utopian view which is fair game, but "basic understanding ", of course he does

wild guess but the obvious justification for a .230 hitter with 9 HRs and a .900 OPS is the same as a CEO making $100 M for overseeing a bankruptcy
I asked an un thoughtful person.

Hmm, un thoughtful, could be a synonym ---whatcha think ?

Lesson two.

There are 750 MLB players.

There are 4 million teachers.

The laws of supply and demand do not go away simply bc we wish them to

actually this is a bit more complicated...one of those industries has been able to act to control competition due to a dubious "national pastime" ruling from the Supreme Court

if antitrust law was applied to baseball the situation would be quite different
