GDT- 5/25: Atlanta (29-23) @ St. Louis (25-25)

Still a bad, bad loss. This team as the roster is today is tough to handicap. I think at this point best chance to playoffs is wildcard but it won't matter anyway. At best we're the fourth best team in the NL. The bullpen is fool's gold.
 
If our pen was even mediocre, we'd be running away with the division. It's soooooo bad. I honestly don't understand how AA thought it was okay to completely ignore the pen all offseason.

It was impossible to have seen Minter and Biddle completely derailing. If those two showed what they showed last year, we would have likely had a very good pen at this point. Virtually every reliever that was available at a reasonable price this past off season has struggled. It certainly needs to be addressed now and it is a bit frustrating that it wasn't addressed more aggressively the past couple weeks but I can certainly understand assuming Minter and Biddle would take the next step being they were young talented guys and just had excellent years. The pen is annoying me now because it keeps fooling us. It looks like its finally settling down and then it implodes again. I like what I've seen from Swarzak so far, though.
