BRAVES FINAL DRAFT SIGNING BOARD: Backstrom on board!

Big fan of this draft strategy. After seeing how someone who peaked at 18 like Allard I'm fine with getting as many wildcard teenagers as possible in the later rounds. Again, similar to the strategy that nsacpi has pushed on the international FA front.

In an effort to be as creepy as possible, I did some social media stalking of our six high school picks in rounds 11-19:

Mahki Backstrom graduated from high school on Friday. He had a huge Braves logo on top of his graduation cap, so I’ll take that as a good sign.

Vaughn Grissom’s Instagram bio has “ballplayer for the Atlanta Braves” in it.

Those two, plus Jared Johnson saying he’s signing, would give us a really strong foundation for those late rounds.

I think you're fine as long as you don't message them on their Twitter feeds.

This good enough for me. These guys are all flying down this weekend, so the reality is a dozen we don't know have also signed.

starting to look like we are going to sign em all

Biggest concerns are Milligan and Owens from where I sit, but there is an unconfirmed report that Owens has agreed to sign.

I see little chance of Kadon Morton signing. But as Joaquin Andujar once said, "One word says it all: youneverknow."

Given the players we specifically took on Day 3, I find it hard to believe Milligan would have been a late Day 2 pick if we weren’t confident in him signing. Your closing quotation would hold true for that, though.

I also agree on Morton, but I’m holding out hope that the specific grouping of picks means something. We pretty abruptly switched gears on Day 3 back to college guys.

13th round pick Tyler Owens, a Florida commitment, has agreed to come to Atlanta for a physical. A source in his hometown hinted that was all that stood between his signing with the Braves.

My favorite pick in this draft. Kid has huge potential!

If the Owens news holds up, I’d consider this draft a win if we sign the top 10, Backstrom and one of Estes/Morton. Obviously some of the JuCo and College kids would need to sign too, but many of them likely will.

Interesting, where’d you see that at Rico? Not doubting you at all, mostly just my curiosity since Owens is a UF signee.

That will certainly help sign some extra guys.

Hopefully the other 1st goes underslot too.

I have an inside source, through USM, with Milligan and right now I'd say that its 80-90+ percent that he'll sign. He really wants to come to USM and was really excited about it, but at some point he has to be reasonable and take the money.

There is a chance that he doesn't sign, but I'd be kinda surprised.
