GDT 6/9/19: Breaking out the brooms

Yeah - Snit seems to have a hard time rotating guys. He seems to have been getting better about giving Neck a break more recently though, so hopefully that trend continues. Markakis has been exactly average, so there's nothing lost by subbing him out once or twice a week.

He is getting pretty unlucky, .284 babip (career .316). Hard contact is actually up from last year... just hitting ball on ground more.

2ER in 19 IP vs the Dodgers this season too

Its a no brainer move.

Wont be crazy expensive and then if the rumors of him wanting to play in ATL are true it makes an extension more likely because we can start discussions soon.

The further removed from his flukish injuries he gets the better his production will be. Dudes a stud.

Rumor wanting to play in ATL?

I read we were on his NTL?

Who could have seen that coming?

Please don't even speculate on a Bumgarner extension. I don't even want that bad Juju in the air.

Good Lord, not this again.

Braves currently have 3 starters with a better ERA- than Madbum and just signed a 4th. Why do we need him again?

Not sure i ever rember you using ERA in a ln argument.

Either way, bumgarner is better than everyone aside from soroka.

I like you thethe, but are you trolling or completely serious? I just don't understand the love affair with the dude.

Would I take it at fair price? Of course, but we, and any other team, would get bent over for the guy. He's not worth it, not even with Will Smith attached.

If that's true then why hasn't he showed it on the field?

Ignorant people can't quite understand just how much the park in SF suppresses offense and makes Bumgarner's overall numbers look better than his true talent level.

Bumgarner's xwOBA is .332. The only member of the Braves rotation with a higher value is Folty at .343, and everyone hopes he is figuring things out.

For real, only soroka is better in FIP... fried is pretty much equal.

And re: FIP, Gausman is pretty much equal to Bumgarner. They are all essentially the same guy. Julio has also been a sub 4 FIP pitcher in his last 9 starts. Madbum is not an upgrade.
