I even lived there 2 whole years and never got stabbed or shot. Come to think of it, I never even witnessed a violent crime.

I lived there ten years—on the South Side, no less—and am still breathing. Only time I was robbed, my friend’s car was broken into...parked in a bourgeois neighborhood on the North Side.

I live in a little redneck exurb of Atlanta with some of the highest gun ownership and carry permit rates in the state. Oddly enough, no one ever gets shot here either.

For the record I’ve been to the DR 3 times and have yet to be shot or stabbed as well.

The DR chamber of commerce paid me to say that.

i've only been to the DR once, to Punta Cana...but we did wander a bit off the resort area to see some baseball fields and communities. it is..extremely poor. apparently most spots only have electric certain times of the day.
