THURSDAY MINORS FINAL 6/13/19; Mejia throws 6 hitless innings in Rome relief

Dilmer Mejia is another in the long line of smallish Latin LHPs that the Braves have had in the system, many of whom generate some level of promise before fading. I'm thinking Luis Merejo, Alex Pinto, and
Andy Otero in that vein. Mejia is only 21, but it seems like he's been in the system forever. He's had some injury issues and looks to be working strictly out of the bullpen, so who knows if something finally clicks.

rico43, you do an awesome job with this so don't let the peanut gallery give you too much grief over a typo.

it is worth noting stat statistically Allard is not doing as well this year as he did last year in AAA...Ks are down, BBs and HRs up

Not surprising with the live ball. K rate is slightly lower, but BB is much higher. Big thing for Allard is that he appears to be working to become more of a ground ball pitcher with a higher GO/AO ratio than in the past. That could be contributing to command and control issues. The kid is only 21 and he looked like a totally lost cause in his brief major league stint, but I'm all for giving him every chance. It's unlikely he'll become the top-line starter many envisioned, but if the cards fall right for him (and that means all the cards), he may still be a contributor down the line.

This is really great info. You should definitely post this again

His velocity has been 91-92 as well, which is better than the 88-90 trash we saw last season.

He definitely has a long way to go but if the velocity stays for the whole year im going to think those numbers improve.

He never really had command issues up until the last year.

Great call and comparisons. Dilmer has kicked around Rome and Danville/GCL forever. He was actually Appalachian League pitcher of the year once. He won't wow you initially as he is on the short side and I guess around 180? Struck,me as a left handed Alan Rangel...he'll touch 95 ish....lives at about 92-3, but throws strikes typically. I've always been intrigued but he definitely has a path that equates to not making it with the Braves due to injuries/time. Also the many prospects ahead of him. He's a "maybe," but the deck is stacked against him.

Strong 3 inning outing by Parsons. He and Sobotka have been pitching well in Gwinnett, often in multi-inning stints. Wouldn't be surprised to see those two work their way back to the major league pen. Grant Dayton has also been pitching well out of the Gwinnett pen.

Keep in mind also that any pitcher repeating AAA is going to see his numbers spike because of the juiced ball. The offensive numbers in the IL are INSANE this year.

is this confirmed anywhere consistently? genuinely curious.

I think I saw that from Eric Cole on Twitter... said he looks rejuvenated as a prospect a bit... don't know if I buy that strong talk, but he could make things interesting again.
