Apologies if already posted and I missed it, but Mississippi got a lot of love on BA's hot sheet yesterday:

https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/top-mlb-prospects-hot-sheet-61719/

1. Drew Waters, OF, Braves
Team: Double-A Mississippi (Southern)
Age: 20
Why He’s Here: .444/.459/.722 (16-for-36), 3 R, 4 2B, 2 HR, 7 RBIs, 1 BB, 7 SO, 0-for-2 SB

The Scoop: It’s not like Waters wasn’t having an excellent season when June began. But his .416/.566/.828 June has unquestionably pushed him to the point where he is the most productive hitter in the Southern League. Waters now leads the league in nine major offensive categories including batting average (.338), slugging percentage (.535), OPS (.916), extra-base hits (36) and total bases (147). What is easy to forget is just how difficult it is to hit in Double-A (with the traditional minor league ball) compared to the Triple-A leagues. There are 35 Triple-A hitters slugging .550 or better. There are only three Double-A hitters slugging above .550. (JJ)

9. Ian Anderson, RHP, Braves
Team: Double-A Mississippi (Southern)
Age: 21
Why He’s Here: 2-0, 1.50, 12 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 16 SO, 6 BB, 0 HR

The Scoop: After opening the year as the second-youngest pitcher in the Southern League, Anderson has been dominant. The No. 3 overall pick from two years ago has been particularly outstanding in June, when he’s racked up 23 whiffs in 17.2 innings and put up a mark of 3-0, 1.53 over three starts. (JN)

16. Cristian Pache, OF, Braves
Team: Double-A Mississippi (Southern)
Age: 20
Why He’s Here: .333/.400/.741 (9-for-27), 7 R, 2 2B, 0 3B, 3 HR, 6 RBIs, 2 BB, 4 SO, 0-for-2 SB

The Scoop: Pache is one of the most electric prospects in the minor leagues. He combines burgeoning offensive skills with off-the-charts defensive abilities in center field. He and teammate Drew Waters have been terrorizing pitchers all year in the Southern League. After a strong June, he’ll close the first half with a stellar slash line of .291/.348/.506 with nine homers, which equals his career total entering the year. (JN)

Who is the Miss coaching staff? They deserve some praise for these performances also. Knowing that AA Miss is a offensive desert, what these guys are doing is off the charts.

Carlos Mendez is the hitting coach and Dennis Lewallyn is the pitching coach. Both had brief stints in the major leagues and have extensive experience as minor league coaches/field coordinators. Mendez last playing stop was Richmond in 2007 when the Braves had their AAA team there. Next season he was hitting coach in Danville. In a totally unrelated note, Mendez turns 45 today. Lewallyn was the Dodgers' first round pick out of Chipola JC in 1972. Braves had drafted him in the 3rd round out of high school in 1971, but he did not sign. He turns 66 in August and has been working in the minors for a variety of organizations since 1991. He has been the Mississippi pitching coach since 2014 (except for one year with the Fire Frogs in 2017).

I remember when we all thought we had to much pitching and not enough hitting prospects. Now it’s the complete opposite. Our offense for the big club is gonna be insane for a long time and it leaves us the money to go get that big ace to lead the rotation.

Philip is with Danville who open their season tonight.

I'm guessing Lang goes to Florida and Shewmake and Kalich to Rome.

I wouldn't be that aggressive with Langeliers. I'd start him in Rome for a week or so and try to bring his bat along slowly. I know his defense is ostensibly "MLB ready", but I'd do everything I could to ease him in to professional pitching.

Yea, I was thinking Langaliers, Shewmake, and Kalich would all start off in Rome.

For Danville tonight,

Philip opening at SS
Birdsong at 3B
Ball DH
Carter RF

Bad night for Braves in the AA All-Star game: Pache 0-2, Waters 0-2 with 2 K, and Davidson tagged for five runs.

Who is driving the Waters bandwagon? I am ready to hop on. I might need to put my doctor on speed dial when we have an OF of Waters/Pache/Acuna.
