Just guessing, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Langeliers and Shewmake were activated today or sometime soon to start the second half with Rome.

Rome is probably the right place for them at this point. I'd probably be a bit more aggressive with Shewmake than with Langeliers though I'm afraid the Braves will do the opposite.

Shewmake's hit tool is pretty advanced. His likely ability to fill in all over the diamond and the constant need for options off the bench in the majors could lead to a fast track to the bigs.

I personally want them to be more cautious with Langeliers. His glove is major league ready and that paired with our need for catcher makes me afraid we'll rush him. He's only a year removed from a pretty mediocre year in college and could probably use some time in the minors honing his craft at the plate. I wouldn't be surprised if his bat wasn't really ready until 2022.

Given where everything is at in the system, I wouldn't be surprised if Shewmake and Langeliers are in Florida in late-July or early-August. We just don't have much below AA right now, so there's no rush. I wonder if Logan Brown will be moving up to Florida in the meantime. He's having a decent season in Rome and they may not want to take ABs away from him. The combined OPS of the two guys catching for the Fire Frogs now is < 1.000. That doesn't tell the whole story if those two are good with handling young pitchers, but that's not much in the hitting department.

In another matter, I've been looking at the DSL boxes and I don't know if any of the guys playing there are true prospects, but we do have some guys who are performing markedly better than those on last year's squad. True, some are repeating the DSL, but a couple of the first-year guys are playing pretty well, particularly Quintero and Celedonio (who is hitting for power but striking out at an alarming rate).

Shewmake is gonna be our LH utility MIF next season that we need. Probably too optimistic but I feel posi today

You must've attended the same meeting where Snitker was told to ignore Camargo as a part of the roster. His value is completely being sapped by the Braves and his lack of playing time.

Get Johan some ABs, send him to Gwinnett, or trade him for crying out loud - ESPECIALLY if Shewmake's going to be fast-tracked!!!

Camargo is great vs lhp. Problem is we have 4 RHHs in camargo's positions (3b, ss, 2b, and lf).

camargo was struggling when he was getting plenty of ABs.

We're all well aware of that.

The point doesn't change - his value is being completely wasted on this team. He has 16 ABs in June, and 7 of those came in 2 games (6/7 and 6/10).

If the choice has been made to use Culberson and Joyce - which it obviously has - package some mixture of Duval, Camargo, Ender, and a young arm and go get a premium pen arm like Hand or get Smith and Bumgarner to make a difference now. There are going to be RHH options at those positions moving forward even if Donaldson isn't brought back and Riley replaces him, so why pay him to sit at the end of the bench next year too? It's not like he'll get ABs in the OF when Pache and Waters arrive between now and 2021.

Favorite of one of the resident board veterans here. Hope he gets back on his feet elsewhere.

Izzy was one of a group of signings that Hartcoppy was very proud of. I think they traded someone (I want to say La Stella) for international slot money and wanted to make a big splash right away in the international market. By then of course the best prospects had been scooped up. But Hartcoppy wanted to show how smart they were and went out and signed a half dozen or so kids, one of whom was Izzy. Of course none them amounted to anything.

Whoever said Bacon’s assignment in Danville would be brief was damn right: two games, no appearances, he’s back in Rome.

I think he was in Florida not Rome earlier this year. Bad ERA but peripherals were good.

He started off 2018 in Rome, before pitching well enough there to earn promotion to Florida, before pitching well enough there to earn placement in Florida to start 2019. By “back in Rome” I only meant to signify that he’s been bouncing around the sub-AA tiers in his career thus far.
