GDT: July 12th, 2013 - Reds at Braves, Reed in #2 Hole

Yes Medlen pitched like crap tonight. He still just had a 3.45 ERA coming into tonight's game. Since when is 3.45 junk?

He was awful his last outing too. He pitches to contact and doesn't strike people out. And his era is closer to 4.00 now after tonight.

Who the **** cares how he gets people out as long as he gets people out? Yes he has had 2 awful starts in a row. God forbid a pitcher have a couple of bad games. Greg Maddux was 3-11 with a 5.50 ERA in his career against the Diamondbacks and he's going to the HOF. Oh and his ERA even after tonight's game is 3.64 and last time I checked 3.64 is solid work. Not junk.

I have always like Medlen but he is no where near as good as he was last year.

He was never going to do that again. What Kris Medlen has done this season is fine. He was never going to be an ACE. He's a #3 starting pitcher. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The expectations that people put on him because of the extremely lucky streak he had last year were uncalled for. Kris Medlen is a solid #3 starting pitcher and the amount ****ing hate he gets from Braves fans just blows my ****ing mind. I seriously don't understand. Not everybody can be John Smoltz. You can't have an AS at every position. I feel the same about this as I do those hating Chris Johnson.

He doesn't get people out. Two innings tonight where the bases where loaded without ant outs being recorded. Medlen is an average pitcher at best.

I don't hate Medlen. I just don't see the point in keeping him for the long haul. The rotation is log jammed with mediocre pitchers and we need an ace.

He must get people out to have a 3.64 ERA. Since when is a 3.64 ERA sorry? Is this bazzario world?

3.64 ERA is not mediocre. The league average ERA is over 4 dude.

Medlen is fine now because he's on a cheap contract, but giving him a contract extension should not be in the future unless he agrees to play for 3 million a season.

Not everything for a pitcher's worth is based on ERA. It's a nice stat, but it doesn't tell the entire story.

Beachy can't replace both MaHolm and Medlen can he? About a month go I thought we could ease Beachy back into the rotation, now I think we need to put him in there as soon as he's ready.
