6/26 GDT: Keuchel at Cubs

JP Crawford is CRUSHING for the Mariners, for what it’s worth.

that trade suddenly isn't looking so amazing. Crawford looks like he'll at worst be a useful, cheap player. Santana is having a great season. of course, the Phillies still wouldn't have anywhere to put Santana/Hoskins. but i like that JP is suddenly playing much better. could easily out-WAR Segura the next couple years.

Never really understood why everyone was freaking out so much about Segura. He's a nice player, but he's nothing special. Kinda reminds me on an Inciarte outside of one very good year with the Diamondbacks and one solid year last year. Nice hit tool, solid defense, no power, decent speed. Useful starter, but not a big difference maker.

not when they could've done it without him and are still stuck dealing with that contract

His game 7 rally speech during the rain delay is part of Cubs lore now. I’m not saying it’s a good deal. I’m not saying it’s not an albatross. I’m just saying the city of Chicago would have blood sacrificed the whole White Sox organization if it meant the Cubs would win the WS. Whatever they had to pay to get all those little pushes to the title however small were worth every penny to them.

I don't think he needs to be platooned. I think he should get regular rest and it should happen against LHP. There is a difference.

I'm with this as well. He needs more rest, no platoon. Travesty he gets maybe 1 day off every 2-3 weeks with the depth the Braves have.

Yeah but Gausman and Folty’s struggles hurt. Our depth is fixing the bullpen but we need someone else in all of those pitchers to step up and take a spot in the rotation.

The pitching depth has both shored up the bullpen and permitted the Braves to maintain a MLB average rotation despite demoting the #1, #2, and #5 starters.

I'm seen some indication that the pitching depth has been overrated, but I think it's the opposite. Most teams would not have weathered everything Atlanta has faced with its pitching staff this year between injury and ineffectiveness.

Not sure why everyone is surprised at the win total. We had 91 last year and the team got better. Even as good as he has been I still think there is going to be an insane month hot streak from Acuna that carries us to a 20 win month.

I also firmly believe that Folty is going to take a nice vacation and go back to AAA to get right. He will be good in August/September. Keuchel is great for a team like the Braves because of his the ability to eat innings and generate worm burners. Fried/Soroka are studs.

This team has a shot at 100.

LOL, love it!

I was one of the 3 people on this forum that liked the Mac signing.

I'll have to go back and check, but I remember the consensus being that Mac was fine assuming the money they saved was used somewhere else and/or JD wasn't the only big acquisition.

Now it looks like a large chunk of that saved money brought in DK, so there isn't really much to complain about at all.
