"I prefer the probable future reliever with a fastball and change, but no breaking ball!"

"Well I prefer the probable future reliever with a curve and change, but no fastball!"

I mean, I'd take the fastball guy on the odds, but still, second-tier pitching prospects are a coin flip.

I actually think that was an impressive inning by Wilson. Rizzo had an amazing AB leading off. Baez did make hard contact. But the hits by Heyward and Caratini were just the BABIP gods doing their thing. I thought he handled the adversity well.

If it were workable now id be more inclined to agree with you but its not usable currentlym
At his age it doesn’t have to be the slider. It could be something new. I’m not saying it will happen. I’m saying it’s too early to make assumptions about limitations on his development when there are clearly positives. An excellent fastball he can locate is a great block to build from.

He didn't have a put away pitch. You need to get swings and misses. That's not bad luck.

They say you either can spin a ball or you can't. Gausman has been trying to spin a ball for 10 years and hasn't been able to.

Wilson pitched a lot better than his runs line today.

Odd to double-switch out Donaldson so early. Edit: nevermind: Chip's just an idiot.

4th and 5th runs where BS. Still, he’s gonna need another pitch beside the fastball to navigate MLB lineups more than once.
