Around The Majors 2019

From MLBTR

Swanson injured the base of his heel Tuesday and hasn’t played since. The Braves will make a decision Saturday on a potential IL stint for Swanson, per manager Brian Snitker. The news sounds far worse for Markakis, who took a 91 mph fastball off the left wrist from Phillies southpaw Cole Irvin on Friday. While he Braves wound up winning the game, they probably lost Markakis in the process. He’ll see a doctor Saturday, but Markakis said after the game that “it doesn’t look good,” and Burns writes that Snitker was “pessimistic” about his status.

IF Dansby goes to the IL, will Braves call up Kazmer?? Duvall is the obvious replacement for Markakis because of ML experience. Demeritte could be the one called up. Don't know if Demeritte is on 40 man roster.

Its Kazmar not Kazmer.

Fried has to be activated so he would take Dansby's spot on the 25 man if Dansby was put on the IL.

Anyone following the Nats game? They had announced Ross as the starter, the Dodgers used their lefty lineup, and the Nats ended up using lefty Grace as an opener for 2 innings. He didn't give up a hit and then Ross came in. I believe some on here thought we should do the same vs Dodgers.

Shady but it works. Ross is bad.

This tradition of announcing pitchers early doesnt make sense. It is information that has strategic value and should be tightly held.

Personally I don't care. Just thought it was cool to see a team try that opener approach to take away Dodgers platoon advantages.

Why? And AA tried to sign Kimbrel to a 1 year deal.

I meant replace him as closer, not replace him replace him.

I dont trust Luke vs higher end teams on the road. I like Luke in the 7th-8th inning. I would have been cool with CK for a 1 year deal, not multi years though.

Or at home, sorry. For all the numbers, I'll bet you none of the "geniuses" are willing to tell you they'd trust Jackson in the postseason either.

The numbers are great over a full season - not so much when you need to get the middle of the Dodgers' or Yankees' lineups out when it counts though.

Yeah meant overall with Luke as closer. Need someone to push him down in the 7th-8th inning role.

He's certainly improved this year, but i still dont trust him in high end situations.
