Shane Greene to Atl being reported

#Tigers acquiring Joey Wentz and Travis Demeritte from the #Braves in exchange for Shane Greene, sources tell The Athletic. Unclear if others involved.

THAT'S IT? LMAO

Good for Demeritte, if true. Was rooting for the guy to make it as a bench piece in Atlanta, but he’ll get a real shot in Detroit and won’t be a 40-man issue here.

If it's Wentz and TD, AA fleeced.

I like TD but if that's all and no Muller. Well losing Muller for Greene would've stung as I'm not that high on Greene despite his career year so far. To sum it up, I am happy to hear that it seems Muller is not in the deal.

Actually that's a significant overpay.

Wentz is just a straight 45FV, right? And Greene has a year of control remaining. How are you pegging Demeritte’s value to get to “significant” overpay?

yea, I was hoping he'd get a shot here as he went to same highschool as me.

Overall I'm pleased. We got 3 guys who will help upgrade the pen. And AA held on to the prospects I wanted to hold on to.

But in this particular trade, I think the Tigers did well to get Wentz and Demeritte.

To be fair, I value both Wentz and Demeritte a little higher than the consensus. But a straight 45 is an overpay for Greene, who has put up WAR of 0.8 in 2017, -0.1 in 2018 and 0.8 so far this year. Given that I would project 0.5 WAR the rest of this year and 1.0 next year. He is making 4M this year and will probably make 6M next. I'm not gonna give him bonus points for the shiny 2019 ERA.

I know this is a huge upgrade for the pen as a whole, but is this guy really that much better than Jackson? Everything but ERA is very similar between the two, only Greene has a .178 BABIP and Jackson has a .352.
