Post-Trade Deadline Rosterbation Discussion

I'm thinking the 10 day IL will be utilized quite a bit in August to help solve these problems.

Ya been posting here 6 years Sally.

If ya ain't figured out who's who yet it just ain't happenin. Just like Frenchy never learning how to take a walk. Riley is on that same dark path. Donaldson needs to learn how to swing and not take a walk.

Nope. Posted on 2 different sites before I really started here. Joined back in 13 because Rico came to Sports Boards and asked me to join here.

Wait...weren’t you on the scout board?

Yep until I got into it with Shanks and got banned.. That's when a lot of us went to Sports Boards after a short stay on Baby Braves site. Stayed on Sports Board until about a year ago when when the server went TU. They never got it fixed. That's where some of the members here came from. Most memorable one I think was Gentle Ben(or just plain Ben). Enscheff took on Gentle Ben and drilled him a new arse hole.. Spent time at Squoosh also.

Fat Ben.

All 3 of the New guys have been added to 40 man roster. O'day is not on 40 man. I doubt that we'll ever see him in Atl.

I see that Shane Greene has been added to 40 man roster but don't see Melancon or Martin. The current list, as recent as I can find shows 40 man including Greene. At least 2 moves necessary to clear spots for Melancon plus Martin.

Who gets DFA'd, released or optioned(if that's an option to clear a spot) off the 40 man roster?

Walker, Minter, and maybe put Jackson on the 10 day DL to rest his arm would be what i'd do.

That post of mine was deleted and replaced with "All 3 of the New guys have been added to 40 man roster. O'day is not on 40 man. I doubt that we'll ever see him in Atl."

My personal feelings about Minter say he goes down, but other than Newk and Blevens he's the only LHRP on 25 man

Agree on Walker and an IL stint on one of the others.

Looking at all of this the day after the deadline, I think the Melancon deal shouldn't have been made. With Dayton and Webb nearing a return, the new knowledge that Melancon put us over this year's payroll budget, and a $14 million salary hit next year, he just costs far too much for too small of an upgrade.

Well, Swarzak, Blevins, Martin, and Tomlin are all FA's after the year. Gonna need some guys for next years pen. AA would rather overpay for 1 year than 3-4 years on a bullpen arm.

Melancon has been pitching well lately, but given we had to take on the whole deal, i thought the return should have been just like Winkler and a non top 30 guy.

I guess you hold out a little help he could be turning the corner to full health. His latest numbers are encouraging, but that's just the way it is with RP.

I'm kinda surpised we had to give up anything at all considering the salary. We were after Beck for some time.

That's basically it. Far better to make a mistake on a 1-year deal than take the risks associated with big long-term contracts. AA is choosing where he takes his risks pretty carefully. We've seen that with O'Day, Donaldson, Keuchel, McCann, Markakis and now Melancon.

Have any corresponding roster moves been made yet, or is it going to be one of those just before gametime things?

His most memorable contribution to this board was the insistence that Derian Cruz (or some other nothing I can't remember traded to the Reds) was a better prospect than Drew Waters, and those types of prospects could easily be acquired with nothing more than international pool money.

He was by far the dumbest self proclaimed expert this board has ever seen. Nothing more than a fat loser sitting at home "scouting" grainy cell phone video and chatting with other fat losers about it in some odd club of doughnut eaters.
