GDT 8-9.... JULIO BLACKENS THE FISH IN CAJUN GOODNESS.....

You have to watch Horner, which I think you haven't and how he got the barrel on the ball. This is not disrespect to you and you known me for a long time. I grew from the Hank Aaron era and Acuna is similar to him, Burroughs was great, Murphy great, but Horner is the closes I can say to him. I am not wrong, the oldies who grew up watching them in the 70's knows. Acuna is between Horner and Aaron in how he swings, that is what I am saying and you have to have that not.

Seaver, Ryan and Richard were those who threw in the low to mid 90's at best but they could not compete now but they were pitchers to. They would get lit up today with no problem if they relied on that. Announcers always say, the batters today are geared for the hard stuff. They aren't lying.

I understand what you are coming from but Acuna is adjusting to the heat and doing a great job. He is hitting 420 ft plus homers each time and striking out while being patient. I think he has struck out the second most now or third, he is in the top five. That is what I am saying.

Nolan Ryan did not throw mid 90's at best. He held the record for fastest pitch on record until Chapman broke it. Actually, SI says if you adjust for the radar gun placement from then to now, Ryan's 100 MPH fastball in 1974 would be more like 108 MPH now.

Tom Seaver was regularly in the upper 90s as well from what I recall.

I guess that explains all of those speeding tickets I got in the 70s. Of course, a 55 mph speed limit may have had something to do with it too.

Great game by Julio.

Even if Allard is good, i'm not sure where he'd fit in the rotation long-term. But i wish we could have done better with him than a rental RP since he wasnt in the long-term plans.

I will look that up.

If he threw that hard, he would have a better record.

#TVgun

As always, we should wait for the Statcast data. I still remember a start against Philly two years ago where Julio was sitting 95 on the TV gun.

Very possible but the brewers swings indicate velocity was real.

I’m generally against the long term high value free agent contracts (for the Braves at least), but I would make an exception for Rendon.

I would offer 5/150 and I would be surprised if he didn’t get more than that.

Maybe more years at less AAV.

Id just go with Donaldson for a couple more years and let Riley perculate in AAA or in LF at the majors. We was surprisingly average in the field.

Julio with 7 IP and 100 pitches Who is going to throw the 8th and then the 9th?? Snits won't dare send Julio back out there for the 8th, will he??

Wow, are you kidding me? Allard hit 95 mph in the first inning tonight and has hit 94 mph a lot so far. He just hit over 94 mph his last inning twice too.

Just checked.

No he didn't. If he did, he would not struggle in his pitching to get what he did and would average like 15 to 20 strikeouts each outing.

With the stuff you think would not lose nearly 300 games.

He had great stuff for that era, but if he pitches like he did then now, they would feast off of him.

His agent is Boras, but yeah i'd be surprised if only got around that. Durable, elite fielder, elite hitter, great clubhouse guy. Everything you want in a player. I'd just bring back Donaldson for 2 years if he'd accept but if there's a player worth opening the checkbook for, it's Rendon, he's so good.
