Gun Violence

you didn't push the Seth Rich thing?

I recall questioning the circumstances of it, like I think we should do for all things
Once evidence came out, I dont recall every pushing anything.

I'm questioning the Epstein suicide too. Does that make me crazy?

No. I think probably it is just rank mismanagement by the prison system, but the facts need to come out.

America, where we regulate literately everything (and most of the time for good reasons) except guns

Where we don’t think someone is mentally well enough for video games but have no qualms about selling a gun.

This country is so dumb

Pretty much nah

We don’t

For something that can cause so much death and destruction, it’s way too simple/easy to attain

The NRA is in some hot water. They should lose their non-profit status. CLearly, it's all about profit.

Of the three wannabe mass shooters arrested in the last week, the one in Ohio was one of the very fine Nazis marching in Charlottesville, and he was planning to drive to a nearby town to shoot up some Jews. That's at least 20 or 30 Charlottesville marchers arrested in other states for planning or committing acts of violence in the two years since.

With mental health being the go to excuse given by pro weapon people for mass shootings - I would have thought this thread flooded with concern and suggestions
Didn't know "mental health" could be treated with thoughts and prayers ?

At the beginning of 2018, Dick’s Sporting Goods announced it was pulling all assault-style weapons off the shelves at its 125 stores and burning them. After the Parkland, Florida, school shooting, the sporting goods outlet first said it would lift the minimum age to purchase assault-style weapons to 21, up from 18. The chain subsequently decided to get rid of all assault-style weapons from a large selection of their stores and openly hired a lobbying firm to handle the promotion of gun safety laws. At each step, gun-loving snowflakes across the country waved their guns in the air and threatened to boycott. The company that had been struggling with sales then saw a rise in its quarterly profits, much to the chagrin of those Second Amendment patriots. Dick’s also saw an initial slump after making the change, something the NRA and others lauded as proof that you don’t take away ‘Merica’s bang-bang machines

There is something I've been thinking about lately in terms of paranoia and mental disease. One of the books my son's school assigned as summer reading is Educated by Tara Westover. I have skimmed through parts of it.

At least as portrayed by Tara, her father has a fairly serious mental illness, which contributed to the paranoia that caused him to isolate his family. This same mental illness led him to ban milk from his house because of a bible passage about "honey and cream." So they loaded up with honey and cream and did away with milk.

This is just one example of the dysfunctional way this man treated his family as a result of his mental illness. Should someone with that level of paranoia and instability be allowed to have guns?

No. But who makes the decisions on who and what kind of mental illnesses shouldn’t be allowed to have guns?
