GDT 8/20 DALLAS BRINGS THE FISH SMOKER

Nats lose.

Baseball is funny isn't it. Nats hitting have looked dominant including a 13-0 win over the Pirates yesterday. Today they go up against Archer, who gets pulled with injury after 1. And the Nats only managed 1 run the rest of the game off of the horrible Pirates bullpen.

After HBP #2, I texted a friend suggesting semi-seriously that, next inning: Keuchel go to left, Culberson takes the mound replacing Ortega; Charlie goes a-plunking, gets tossed (would Weiss go too?); Keuchel goes back to pitching, with Hamilton coming in for Charlie.

I realize it might not be worth burning all that personnel, but, IMO, if warnings are issued, ejections must be enforced.

McCann had surgery last year on his right knee. The soreness yesterday was in the left knee. Catchers in the mid-30s are not without risk.

Man the injury bug has started biting us hard the past month. With McCanns age I’d bring him back next year on a 1 year deal to backup but would go after Grandal hard.

Here's a fun tidbit about the 2019 Braves: As of today, Atlanta is 44-35 against teams with a >.500 record; only beaten by the Dodgers at 48-30. The Mets and Nationals have losing records against >.500 teams and the Phillies are 1 game over .500.

Spoiler alert: this is a damn good team.

A-Jax has had a semi-nice year in AAA, but it's gonna be hard to watch him here. May be he can get hot for a week or so until Mac is ready, but a .220 average in AAA doesn't inspire much confidence

I heard today that AJax was actually removed last night for an injury concern of his own...that was from Kevin McCalpin on the Braves Radio Network this morning...the other option would be bringing in that catcher we got at the trade deadline....problem would be we would have to clear room on the 40 man for him
