Francisco Cervelli a Brave?

Sweet, though concussion issues are no joke, especially in the dead heat of August in Atl, and especially when you have had 6 since 2010. Probably better depth than either Jackson or Murphy.

The timing works out that he'd play in place of Mac until he gets back which will be after rosters expand and we can carry 3 catchers for the postseason.. if Mac comes back healthy.

Still gotta open a spot on the 40 man. Guessing may be a pitcher (likely Dayton) is going to the 60 day IL? DFA Camargo (surely not)?

He was catching yesterday in a AAA rehab game

Still on the sixty-day IL. I’d bet it’s a minor-league compact with a shot for more in September/October (à la Duda) if the performance is there.

You have to love the veteran lairdership AA has been trying to acquire the last few weeks to plug in the roster.

Hechavarria, Cervelli, Hamilton...

This type of experience in the clubhouse is gonna be great in September or October even if they're not actually playing.

Good move by AA, but making room for him will be the issue. Dayton is doing rehab in AAA so I wouldn't shut him down for no reason now. He is a lefty that can help out of the pen. Maybe call up someone like Wright and add them to the 60-day DL.

it will be crucial when the footsteps from the gnats and Metropolitans get louder

Dayton recently pitched starting his rehab back and they won't give Camargo away as you know.

BTW, according to reports AA tried to trade Jackson instead in one of our reliever trades. So while I don't see him DFA'd I do think his days are numbered.

supposedly he and Wentz were going to the Tigres for Greene

but then other teams (the gnats and Dodgers) bid up the price for Greene so we had to include Demeritte in the trade instead of Jackson

Yea, the original trade would have made room for Murphy on the 40-man.
