He's allowed 18 runs in August. That's insane.

I'd love to see Soroka get it, but due to name alone, he'd likely have to be really good the next few games.

FWIW, I think deGrom swoops in and takes it.

Caleb Thielbar is the pride of Randolph, MN, and played with the Twins 2013-2015. Randolph is adjacent to my hometown of Cannon Falls, MN. I played basketball against his father (Let me rephrase. I sat on the bench and watched the Cannon Falls Bombers dismantle the Randolph Rockets.). Thielbar the younger played baseball at South Dakota State University, was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2009, and bounced around in the lower minors and independent league ball before landing with the Twins. Bounced around again after being let go by the Twins and was in Toledo (Tigers' AAA team) in 2019.

Probably more than what you wanted to know.

I don't want to kick dirt on Skaggs' grave, but I found the reaction from the Angels a bit disingenuous. "One of our guys use illegal substances? Perish the thought!" My guess there is more than a bit of opioid abuse going on in pro sports. Hey, I could be wrong and the trainer will likely be subject to a public flogging for this (which is understandable and likely proper), but I doubt anyone simply forked over opioids to Skaggs without being asked. Tragic in every sense, but these guys put their bodies through living Hell.

Funny you should mention that. Like you, I am a very stable genius, but somehow all the guys I wanted instead of Minor--Matzek, Turner, Miller, Purke--haven't done as well (understatement).
