The Trump Presidency

Trump now admits he discussed Biden with Ukrainian Pres.

Stage 1: Deny Deny Deny

Stage 2: He talked to Ukraine but there was nothing irregular discussed, all normal diplomatic talk.

Stage 3: Woops you caught me. Ok so I did talk about it with them, so what. It's not even a big deal. Nothing to see here.

What a familiar pattern this is. Where have we seen 45 play this cycle out before...

nothing to see...keep on walking

It would be terribly disheartening for Trump to win again, OTOH every day Trump is President further weakens the GOP and strengthens the Dems. As the GOP has well learned, it's a lot easier to oppose than to lead.

He lies like an 8 year old, totally oblivious to how obvious it is.

not like a child...he has a compulsion...it seems obvious to me he has a serious mental illness...the people around him must know it too...I hope some of the GOP will see this Ukrainian thing as a way to ease him out

I'd like to hear what was actually said

the whistleblower's report should be released including to the public...in redacted form if necessary...if it is to form the basis for an article of impeachment the public needs to be able to see what it is all about...and I think the whistleblower should testify publicly as well

I agree.

Bill Weld with some strong words although some will point out that "treason" as defined in the constitution is a war-time crime.

The word I favor is "betrayal."

the refusal to comply with the whistleblower law is a brazen act of obstruction...we've become inured to it but it should not go unremarked

the Judiciary Committee should vote for an impeachment inquiry specifically related to the actions concerning Ukraine...and request that the whistleblower's report be sent to it...and sue for it if it comes to that

the Intelligence Committee should sue for it too...although it has a different legal basis for doing so

I see David Cross (I'm a fan) jokingly apologized to Nixon on Twitter the other day. I wouldn't go that far (even jokingly) because this whole affair reminds me of Nixon's quote: "Well, when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal." I really think one of Trump's problems is that he still thinks he's in the private sector and there are fewer rules/norms governing competition/behavior in that sphere.

PS--Thought I would add this as proof that Nixon actually said it.

time for this nightmare and stain on the country to end

bring the articles of impeachment and make republicans go on the record of choosing party over country if so be it

Let's hope Nancy doesnt put party over country by not doing it

Nancy's caution is derivative.

definition of derivative from finance: an instrument whose value is based upon the value of an underlying entity

in this case the underlying entity consists of two things: 1) the chances of the Senate convicting and 2) the reaction of the public

Nancy is not wrong to take these matters into account. But I think the calculation may be changing.
