I've had the same thought. Part of the whole exercise is to drag Biden through the mud, but I'm more worried about the big picture. A failed impeachment would simply embolden Trump and pave the way for those who follow him for a boundaryless Executive Branch. Both sides have plenty to worry about here.

Any impeachment is going to fail unless a handful of Reps in the Senate fold. They need to couch this impeachment as more of a public airing of Trump's crimes and misdeeds rather than an attempt to bring him down. The election is going to make or break him.

The odds remain very much against conviction. But if 5 Republican senators peel off it will have been worth it.

having said that

i don't think it's outside the possibility at all that "republicans" choose party over country and that he once again gets the less amount of votes but find a path to victory

but it doesn't look good for him and is why it's a better bet to bet he doesn't get re elected as of now

I despise Biden as much as Trump but Biden had the support of the international community who wanted the prosecutor gone because they believed him to be corrupt.

Political leanings in this super charged partisan era is certainly faur game for discussion.

If impeachment wasnt a realistic option based on secind hand knowledge of a conversation then id agree it should be a worthless topic.

How is that a bad thing? Trump won't get removed from office by impeachment, just like Clinton wasn't. Getting Biden out of the race who's almost certainly a predator just like Trump isn't a bad thing. My only fear is Biden dropping out may swing more support to Harris who's scary given her past.
