I think he's a truly excellent catcher, and they still somehow exaggerate it. Kind of like Jeter was a legit Hall of Fame talent, and somehow they made him an otherwordly perfect being who made talentless bums like A-Rod and Teixeira into champions with just a smouldering look from his handsome, handsome face.
