This offseason is gonna be pretty tricky. JD and DK are both free agents and Mac may retire. If another team over values Donaldson then we may need to address 3b and C both, and no Riley isn’t gonna cut it as the full time 3b. Markakis has to go so a COF is gonna really be needed that can actually hit. Teheran’s option is a big question mark so we could lose 2 starters this offseason also. So we are gonna need a 3b, C, SP, and a real COF. Here’s what I’d try to do.

Sign JD for 2 years 50 million with a 3rd year option
Trade for Starling Marte
Sign Grandal for 2 years 38 million. Go high AAV to take a shorter deal
Check price tag on Bumgarner and Hamels for that veteran lefty

Offer JD a QO.

Try to get Grandal on a 1-2 year high AAV deal.

Sign the best 3b on a 1-2 year deal possible...perhaps JD, maybe Mous.

Sign the best RHH OFer without a QO attached.

Gather inexpensive BP arms to shuttle up and down between AAA/MLB.

Look for impact players on 1-2 year contracts with limited surplus value so they can be acquired without giving up elite young talent in trade.

Keep enough cash in reserve to make impact acquisitions as needed during the season.

Build another 90 win team and take another shot at the postseason.
